Test drove a TRD Sport today

I test drove a 2024 TRD Sport DCSB in Blue Crush Velvet. (rear wheel drive, automatic). I stupidly didn't snap a photo of the window sticker. I mainly wanted to see how the new multi point suspension felt as well as the driving manner of this truck. I thought it drove very well. It basically confirmed most everything I have read about the driving experience. It was a very responsive truck in every way. Since I used to drive a SR with the 2.7L engine, this thing was a massive upgrade in performance by comparison.

There was no powered back window. The seats were mechanical adjust but electronic lumbar adjust. Seats were comfortable and supportive. I had to turn the lumbar down as it felt like I was sitting on a balloon at first. Overall very comfortable. I didn't think that there was a lot of noticeable improvement in leg room compared to 3g. Engineers say they raised the seat by a few centimeters. Maybe so, but it still felt like a 3g leg room wise.

I thought the hood scoop was a bit obnoxious, to be honest, and impeded my view of the road a bit. I could do without it. (just my opinion, yours may differ.)

The B pillar is large and gives poor blind spot visibility for when you actually turn your head to look. But this is a factor in all of the trim levels, I suppose.

I'm not a professional vehicle reviewer but I thought it was a very good truck and the upgrades are worthwhile. Whether they are worth the price is up for debate, but there is not much I can do about that.

I am still holding out for a 6 speed manual. To date, I do not think a single one has been allocated / sold anywhere in Texas.

Still all in my head… but I’m keeping the chrome bumper!
A simple engine cover woulda looked so much nicer… looks like a bowl of black noodles… maybe to discourage home wrenching.

I think that’s a pretty worthwhile review to help others! Thank you.

What wheels would you choose, then? Just curious. Maybe I’m out of touch with wheel styles…

I had the 3rd gen Sport with the ugly wheels and these look a lot like those....prob just me but I HATED the Sport wheels.....I upgraded to Method 703's and now don't cringe when I look at my truck.....

I've seen mostly sport trims on 2024's so far. The lack of leg room in the back seat is terrible. Toyota should have done a rear seat delete.

I'd settle for enough paint on the bottom side of the hood to not see primer on a 45k vehicle.

I love the color. No way in hell I would purchase a double cab. I prefer the access cab like my 2015 TRD Sport. Plus a full length truck bed matters to me. I understand that the access cab is going away - so that means I won't be buying a new Tacoma.

I have a 2019 T4R Off Road Premium - I took the premium wheels off and put them on my Tacoma. Looks better to me - plus it is a 7.5 inch wide wheel. Perfect for the Michelin Defender LTX that I have on them now.

To each his own….I think they look great. I pretty much despise all aftermarket wheels.

How’d you get a pic of Toyota testing it’s new $1500 distributor-installed side window deflectors on the yet to be revealed ‘25 4Runner?

The engine bay is brutal. Gotta keep my 3rd Gen happy as there is very little incentive to update/"upgrade".

Did you really notice the coils in the rear? Just wondering how big a difference it actually is versus the leaf springs.

Hard to compare as there was no leaf sprung on the lot that day.
