4th gen is no longer real Toyota. Its basically US Toyota making money. Toyotas were never luxury or expensive cars, they were always meant for average joe. Can't blame that on inflation either, 4rd gen tacoma went on same path as Tundra did. RIP to new 4runner too, it might go down that path.

Look at Hilux, its so simple and small, it delivers performance without barking so much on exterior and costing same price as SUVs.

Fortunately, I found an easy fix for this, right on the Toyota website.

Pay them $8265, and you’ll get a hood silencer that covers up 80% of the unfinished areas. They’ll also throw in power tailgate for free.

Is "4rd" like a diss? Like trying to call the truck a Ford?

The decline of the tacoma started with the 3rd gen. They put a leaky car motor in a truck when they could have just used the 4.0 out of the 4runner.

The last true die hard Toyota will be gone after this year(4runner).

As far as pick-ups it ended with the 2nd gen tacoma and 2nd gen Tundra.

That's just government and emissions, they do have a point . Our planet is choking with pollution but rich fatties get to fly their jets everyday, and they ask us average joes to downsize car engines, kinda funny.

I agree. Tacoma and Tundra were workhorse trucks and now they are truck like instagram cars.

The decline of Toyota happened when they brought out the bloated and stupid second gen and strayed from the 3rd 4cyl of the first gens.

There’s actually a lot of truth to this, IMHO. I can’t recall where I read (or watched) the interview with ‘ol Sheldon, but he made a big deal about how this was the first gen they were able to convince leadership in Japan to run freely on their own to develop a fully Americanized truck without “compromise” of global influence, especially w/CALTY.

Big mistake, IMHO. Just look at what happened to the PC Engine when the suits in the US turned it into the Turbografx 16. Americans just don’t get it sometimes.

I think this thread shows exactly why you can't please everyone. Every truck after Gen (insert here) is the decline of Toyota. Someone should let Toyota know they're in trouble!

They are though, they used to sell more and more trucks compared to each gen. But this is not Toyota , its American Toyota. Hilux and Land Cruiser hasn't seen decline in sales.

Not a very in-depth look by me, but this says different. Outside the financial crash sales have looked pretty good.
