Pretty much what everyone’s been saying. It’s a better driver because the low end tq and 8 speed. Longer wheelbase helps too.

Did Toyota Corp cut the price recently?

43 is the base, no option price. Most come with the 4600 upgrade package that pushes them to 48-9 and then there’s the 1500 delivery charge. They can be had for 43 + delivery.

No, that build just stacked on a bunch of options.

One major upgrade with the moonroof, fake leather, 14” TV, plus a few other small options like steps. That price gets jacked up quick.

I don’t recall seeing a base OR advertised around here.

I just did a cursory check on cars dot com. There are no base Off-roads for $43k within 200 miles of me. There are a handful that were 47 or 48k but discounted $3000 putting them at 44 or 45k. Not terrible.

The Gulf States region has gone bananas in the past few years. They are ordering trucks and 4runners with a lot of options and accessories.

I feel fortunate I found a new 4Runner configured nearly exactly like I wanted, on the boat from Japan, and a good discount to boot.

Realistically most will opt for at least the base upgrade package that brings it to 48,345. Adding any other goodies (14" display, bed steps, etc) basically gets you to 50K. My goal would be to get one for 3-4K off sticker but not sure if its realistic around here at the moment.

I think right now a fully loaded OR can be had for $53,000 maybe out the door for ~$55,000. I would like to have one, but just decided I’d rather have the 4Runner over it, the GX 550, Land Cruiser, and the Tacoma Pro. I can afford any of them but just narrowed the choices to what I wanted in terms of reliability, price and ride.

Had the opportunity to drive a new Tacoma today as well. I have to say I’m impressed.

Am I the only one that test drove the 4th Gen and likes my 3rd Gen better?

If you enjoy driving your Gen3, then it’s hard to justify the asking price on a Gen4. Especially when the Gen4 you test drove makes fart noises, has noticeable assembly flaws straight from the factory, and was gutted of basic features.

I drove one and felt somewhat underwhelmed versus the hype train. Happy to concede that by most measurements Gen4 is the “better” truck, however…judging by dealer lots & heavy discounts, right now your opinion seems closer to reality than a.) people here who never liked their Gen3 to begin with, or b.) YouTube creators who trade positive reviews for trips to Hawaii.

I test drove one also. Who wouldn’t want all that low end torque ? Does it have some cool stuff in it ?
Yes it does . But now what . You have a turbo motor ,that god knows down the road what can happen ,and all this tech that everyone wants and no one really needs, and a 50 k truck that’s more money then my parents paid for there first house. It truly is getting out of control . This is a truck not a high end luxury car. I think the whole midsize segment lost there way.
