Going tomorrow to look at a 2015. Are the light indicators by itelf a bomb proof indication the 4 hi, 4 low, and the locking differential are working ? Or do i need to physically test each one in addition to observing the lights

    Bomb proof? No

But they are a pretty good indicator that things are working.

These systems are picky. They won’t do anything if the right limit switches are “aligned”.

As long as none of the lights continue to flash, and come on solid, you’re probably ok.
The lights will flash while going into and out of 4WD, both Hi and Low.

The locker will flash too. Sometimes (more often that not) you will need to drive the truck a few feet to get the locker to “lock”.

Same with the 4WD, but it usually locks in faster than the locker.

Good luck on your hunt. :fingerscrossed:

So in the parking lot i guess all i can do is to drive in a circle to feel the lock in addition to the lights?

You won't need to drive in a circle on pavement. You'll know fairly quickly in just a small turn or curve.
Once you feel the truck binding. STOP. 4WD is working.
Continuing to turn or do circles is hard on the drivetrain. (Gears, u-joints, Axles)
The last thing you want to do is break a truck that isn't yours (yet)
