I know if you had ordered trail gear you would already have sliders

Robert; I just installed the rear shocks I picked up from y'all last Sunday. To say that my old shocks were "bad" is to insult "bad". The old shocks were completely blown; holding them straight up they almost fully collapse under their own weight.

Well said Blake. I have seen a Taco with 3" lift, locker, full skids and sliders go through some knarly stuff. The front bumper offers pretty good clearance.
In my opinion the rear bumper should first. It seems to get hung up more. Plus you can opt to get a tire carrier and high lift holder.

Good point. Skid plates might be a little more practical in that most of the off roading I will be doing won't involve hills, and rocks are typically everywhere on Earth, even in the Houston area.

You know for the price of bumpers, skids and armor for a pre runner you can buy a dedicated trail rig that is 4x4.

Plan is to build my truck and drive it til post college years, and buy a new daily driver, while hanging on to my truck. I will then save up to turn it 4x4. I came to this plan as my truck has 163000 miles on it and I want to go to college in Mississippi. I can only imagine the amount of miles it will have after college. Not that I don't think that my truck won't last up to 250000 or 300000. My main reason is that I want to hold onto this truck as long as possible. My dad regrets getting rid of his first truck. A lot of people I have talked to loved their first car and wish they had it. If everything goes according to plan, I will regret nothing.

Here's to hoping today is quick and easy. When I get home tonight I need to do some homework and replace the shocks on the front of the 4Runner.
