Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
If something is meant to last that long, the computer companies aren't doing their job. Unless you get something that allows you to build/mod later. That being said if you are just looking to run MS Office programs, surfing the web, and basic functions, anything will do

Is this the middle earth where the TW perma banees go to live a fruitless life?

I see some active members there too.

That's kinda lame. The whole longevity thing.

I'm not exactly sure what it is. I joined just to see what it is.

That is called a built in profit margin. The auto companies started doing it because if the truck lasted 30 years who would buy a new one in 10? The majority of laptops are built to last two to three years today. Personally I will not pay more than $500 for one because I see it every day. The computer I just installed in my house is a Dell refurb that came off a lease. I got it installed for less than $250 and it does all of my school work without any problems. I do a lot more than take Word and Excel notes also. :D

I've owned 2 Dell laptops. They have done everything I've asked them to. My previous one that I bought in 2004, is actually still running. I used it a lot when I was working on my Masters.

I did some more research into my courses and what my computer needs might be. Logcabinwc (pretty sure that's his screen name) had to do a bit of GIS and other GPS software work. I have a couple of classes that will require similar software and programs. :notsure: how that affects my needs or not. I need to do research on the software.

How is this? When they all have pretty much the same pieces parts. Besides those over priced Macs

    Lmao ok.... whatever.

Yeah; nothing like having to schedule an appointment and wait two hours to get a warranty processed.

I've never had to call Dell tech support in the 9 years of owning one. Maybe I'm the rare case?

This is 100% true... when it comes to marketing.

Dell's customer service is shit. My sister has had various problems with hers and the customer service did not want to help her. My current Dell desktop doesn't seem to have any major problems at the moment though.

I worked on getting my transfer case mount changed out tonight. I started to put the cross member back up, and the holes aren't lining up.

So a drill is in order? Don't be afraid to break out the welder so your shit holds up. To make it bomb proof a unicorn sticker is the only way.

    No it's the right way.

I just left a jack stand under it for the night and I'll give it a go tomorrow night. Just 1/2" off.

When I put mine on last I had to get one bolt started and then use a screwdriver to align the rest.

Played around with a HP Elitebook with Ubuntu on it. Liked the computer and I would have to have some time playing more with the operating system and software.
