Hm. If it's connected to the radio and the antenna is grounded, the only other thing I would see being wrong is how you have it mounted (placement of washers and such. Like the specific order it has to be), or maybe your radio is fried. :notsure:

I'm not the best one to provide CB knowledge though. I'm sure ever y one on this site will take what I have to say about CBs with a grain of salt...haha

Im guessing its still your ground. Did you take the paint off of where you grounded it too? Current cant flow through paint. Has to be bare metal. You can paint over it once you connect it but where the metals touch has to be clean

I had an SWR over 4 and I found the connections inside the antenna mount weren't touching correctly. Threw some solder in there and the SWR went straight to 1.2

I'll post a picture of the order I've got my antenna and coax mounted. I think it's correct.

When I changed my oil yesterday, I look and saw that my battery wasn't grounded to the frame. Could that be part of the issue? :notsure:

I'll make sure all the connections are on all the way after I get out of school.

Your ground should look like this:

It starts up perfectly fine, although a little slow because it's cold.

    Hopefully that's my only issue.

That probably happened during the ice storms when my battery tiedown broke loose and moved my battery into the oil filter

So this is the order on my antenna if it matters.

    Antenna
    Spring
    Top half of connector
    Ground cable
    Lockwasher
    Plastic thingy
    Bedrail tiedown
    Back hall of connector.
    Coax.

The back half of the connector goes through the attachment and the ground to the top half.

This is where I grounded it. The bracket is welded to the frame.

I'm still getting a constant 4 through all the channels. :pout:

Dont ground it to the spring. Ground the actual mount. I would just go right to one of the mounting bolts for the mount.

    ^^^^DIS

The mount should be grounded, not the actual antenna.

    That's good to know.

I'm still in the research phase.

I have the CB, but can't decide on an antenna...

I have the firestik firefly tunable 3'. More flexible than the standard antenna and pretty cheap. Not sure on performance though. Definitely better options. Just depemds on if you want to talk to Mars or not

So youre saying ground the black tiedown?

    What if it's power coated?

What I did after work was swap the ground to in between the coax adapter and the bed rail mount on the bottom side of the mount.

I'll test it after I get my battery re grounded to the body.
