The last two times I have done oil changes have been based off time, not miles because I don't usually drive that much. But I'm shooting for around 9,000 for this next one. We'll see what actually ends up happening though

x2 on NTB. I have one of their alignment packages, so they get first dibs on most service that I can't perform myself.

9 and 10k miles between oil changes is too much to me. I change every 5 cause that's what they recommend. I would change every 3, but figured they wouldn't recommend 5 if it couldn't handle that long. Our new 4Runner does recommend 10k intervals though.

I'd be changing every 3 for sure if I had an 01 though.

Changing your oil every 3,000 miles with synthetic would be a complete waste of money IMO

Honk your horn 20 times while flashing the brights and pumping the brake. Turn the key on and off 7 times within 2 seconds and you'l turn off the light. Haha

Just kidding. Don't do that. Your neighbors will kill you. I don't know how to do it buy there's a way

I do the proper 5k interval Toyota recommends with syn. When I first got my truck the dealerships were using a semi syn. I figure I'd one up them with full syn for extra peace of mind. Doesn't bother me too much, I pick up a 6qt case Mobile1 from Costco every time it's on sale.

    It's in the manual.

On mine you cycle to the ODO reading, turn the ignition switch to OFF. Then push and hold the trip reset button as you turn the ignition switch to ON (don't start the truck) display will show all dashes and the dashes will go away one by one and the whole display will flash all zeroes when it's done.

On the newer trucks I think you cycle to the Trip A or B reading at the beginning before continuing.

Is it bad to change oil brands? I've always used Castrol, but been thinking about switching to Mobil 1... it's not like I've ever had a problem with this oil though

Missed this post. . . but I forgot and probably wouldn't have made it anyhow. Wife has been so busy lately I'm mostly watching our daughter myself on the weekends.

Hey everyone, just popping in to say hey. I'm on leave this next week and will be in the austin area visiting family. And was curious what all there was for prerunning in the area. Was wanting to try some of it out since the good ol FL doesnt offer much for prerunning lol

Enjoy your stay! You may be able to find some offroad parks around Austin if you just do a quick google search.

Marble Falls is only about 1.5 hours from Austin depending which part of town you'll be in. It's one of the better parks in the state (in my opinion) and is definitely worth the short trip. Things can get pretty hairy out there though if you end up on one one of the harder trails so I suggest not going alone. Definitely should have another rig with you.
