    This is what I want to build out of an Army surplus trailer. The one thing I don't understand on the Ethos trailer is why the entire thing is held on to your truck with a single bolt. That is an accident waiting to happen.

    I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm genuinely curious. How is that different than the whole trailer being attached by a ball socket that only has a few degrees of articulation?

    A quick search for Lock and Roll Hitch Failure doesn't find any relevant results.

    No arguments from me sir. A ball socket offers a pivot with a large surface area. A bolt has a much smaller area, and also has a pinch point. If you are using off road beware, on the highway it's probably fine. Peace.

    Scratches
    Those types of hitches are the standard for an offroad trailer, with a pintle mount the other option. A ball hitch will fail the first time your tow vehicle and trailer end up at different attitudes.

    Okay y'all I haven't posted in a while. It's gonna rain this weekend (they say) and I wanna go mudding. I cut the pinch weld when I put my 285s on and now mud gets inside the body Pannel. Also gets inside behind the rear tire in the body Pannel. What do I do to seal it? I don't want mud to get in there and make the panels rust. I was thinking sheet metal and JB weld or Maby "the great stuff" that yellow expanding foam then spray undercoat over it. Any ideas are appreciated.

    I have been surprised at how much I do not need the bed but use the cargo space in the 4Runner. Just my observation YMMV depending on what all you haul around. I will use the truck as needed when hauling larger stuff though.
