Tried to apply for a job at Avis in the Tyler Pounds airport, they already filled the position and I wasted a fucking dollar for parking

So I went up to service king today...they said they will need my truck for at least 3 days til they can replace the differential gasket. Looks like it's a pretty big job to do based on the write up. Only thing is that I can't be away from my truck for that long. I NEED. A way to get to and from work and can't drive a rental car. I think I'm going to try and tackle this project... Anyone want to help? It will be needed..

Little too far away to help but just out of curiosity why can't you drive a rental car?

Replace a diff gasket??? REALLY? The gasket that sits under the diff cover??? The gasket that you drain fluid, pull cover, scrape off gasket, install new gasket, put on cover, torque down bolts and refill fluid again. That gasket- 3 days????

Is that a "do it right" fix? Unlike you I don't want to have to worry about my baby breaking on me

Like they did it right the first time??? RTV the cover, put a little locktite on the threads and don't worry about it again. Easy to do at the mod day.

I have used cheap nail polish before too with good results on bolts that are too small for locktite but still don't need to come out on me.

Will that not just burn off of the diff when it gets hot? That was my first idea

Not if you get the right stuff. I have used RTV for years for gaskets on everything from trucks to tractors with no problems. The trick is using enough; but not too much.

If y'all are confident it will work and not have issues down the road then we can do that then. That locktite I'ls going to be a bitch to get off when I install my locker later on  :D

I've been thinking about doing what zech did and just get a trail rug and not invest heavily in a 2wd truck. Like that bronco...all the Toyotas I have found have been wayy expensive
