    I went out and looked at my truck. The boot in question I believe is a cover to keep dirt/water/mud out of the top seal where the steering shaft going into the power steering pump. I took a quick look... it is hot out there.

    That arm goes in and out of the boot. Under/behind the boot is the seal that keeps the fluid inside the rack and pinion setup. The boot has a tear or is leaking at the clamp. The fluid is coming from a seal giving way and letting the fluid by. Defintently not a side of the road fix.

    Keith, I cannot believe you would imply that anything bad could happen to his truck if he had to leave it there over night.
