Wow, I go to bed "early" and y'all start flaming and bashing Fords. I know quite a few die hard Chevy guys that love their Fords now. Electrical problems? You mean that less than 3% that had problems? While it did make headlines how many problems do we see on TW for truck issues that on the forums are made to look/sound horrible but in reality are a less than 3% issue? As a truck the Ford V6 is a better motor than it used to be. I know three guys with them in their four door Ford who all pull/haul with it and have no complaints. The Ecoboost should be an awesome motor but I am wondering about longevity with the boosted motor. Power isn't free and boost tends to tax a motor - be it a built out 350 or a 4 banger.

    This.

Robert if we go by your mentality about your 1st gen the frame should have rusted out before you left the dealers lot.

Taking this class I've learned a thing or two about accidents. Basically vehicular accidents are civil, the events leading up to the accident can be criminal, if someone dies then other criminal charges can be applied such as vehicular manslaughter. When a CDL is involved, things are a tad different with suspensions and "at fault", but in the end it's still civil. Which is why all those ad's on TV are about trucker lawyers. Oh, and there is that whole grand jury thing.

My dad has been hard-core Ford since '88 and I can tell you about all the trucks almost. Rangers are crap, constant maintenance nightmare after 50K. F150's are about the same, you will probably get to 80K before they start to fall apart. F250's and up though are beast. Now, they do have crazy electrical and computer issues (similar to those dodges from the 90's). I've had a ranger's fuel pump go out at 29K too ! Anything < F250's have cheap gear eating transmissions... it's always been this way. I don't see them changing it.

If you want a ford, don't plan on keeping it for 300K miles.. or wheeling it... But they are really nice for a while.

Since we didn't get to my truck at the meet my plan was to put my fogs back in (got my replacement bulbs), put on my bumps, and if I have time, do my brake lines.

I know, truck stuff, this thread will die in 5...4...3....

Why do you keep mentioning my name sir?

Like Blake said, I'm also just talking from past experiences my dad had with The F-150 before and with the reviews I have just read up on about Ford diesels, just talking about ford in general.

How is it cheaper than your taco? You said you needed something you can afford. A full size truck is way more expensive to buy and upkeep than a mid size 4 cyl
