Thanks for the correction. That gives me hope that not all dealers in the area are doing that. Not that it really affects me as I just got a 2015 from Wesley Chapel, but I hate seeing unscrupulous dealers take advantage of people.

I would never pay $4000.00 for wheels, tube steps and floor mats. Pure business decision.

This is why you should never buy an ESC from SET anyway...Its not a real ToyotaCare Service Contract..Its Fidelity owned by the Moran Family who owns SET. They also do all the financing. not TFS

Very happy with my 3rd SET Tacoma. This newest one has the 60K maintenance and finance through SET.

Do people in Texas fall for the Bullshit Texas Edition? Do they? Come on... close to $4K for what? once you factor in the exchange cost of new toyota wheels they are taking off and these ones, you are really getting hosed...

I hope that sits in the dealers showroom for moons but if not take comfort in the fact that some people are just born stupid.

I love when dealers try to add their own crap and charge you up the ying yang.

Solution: Walk over to the Salesman and say I want that truck but without the Texas Edition and watch them blabber and blabber....

When I bought my 2013 dealers were offering $1500 discounts to move the over priced Texas editions. Just wait a few months and they will be again. GST sucks with add ons. On the 2 Tacomas that I have bought I gave the dealer a limit for GST add ons.

When I bought my 2013 Prerunner, they knocked $3000 off the sticker and it had a $1000 rebate on top of that. I certainly didn't feel stupid at the time. I like the wheels on my truck. I like the tinted windows. I like the black side step tubes. I like the cool chrome badges that look like a Texas Ranger badge. The mats are nice and are holding up well.

So basically all that stuff got paid for with the discounts and I was still well below MSRP.

    Looks great.
I was going to post that most who buy a Texas edition do it willingly and happily. And probably see a discount.
    You confirmed my thoughts.

Don't most Texas Edition trucks actually have something different about them like a lower gear ratio?

all TSS are just glorified SR5's. they are never a OR/Sport/Limited

otherwise it would be out of bounds into the pricing of a Tundra/Domestics Full Size if you put that add-on package on a OR/Sport/Limited. Then people would shop somewhere else for that same price.

that will be $3500 and no there is no difference in the gearing. Other than price the thing I have against them are larger wheels. I prefer 16s with more rubber between the wheel and the wheel destroying rocks I run in.

    This.

I have a 2015 TSS and it was like pulling teeth, but I did not pay much for the package. I was going to walk and wait for a blue ribbon SR5. They really wanted to sell that pyrite mica TSS the last day of the month, so... It's how you get a Toyota dealer to negotiate on "the truck that sells itself".

I did take off the bed decals, as any type of stickers are just not my style. And the embroidered floor mats are in the attic, because I got X-act contours right away. If I ever sell the truck, I'll put those pristine floor mats back in to make it look super clean to buyers.

The Texas edition Tacos are not the Mexican-made Tacos are they?
