Sharp knee pain has been constant for a couple days now.

Y’all ever deal with this before? It’s bad. Bearable. But makes me limp and can’t run on the treadmill.

Just below the kneecap? Sharp/stabbing pain in certain positions or slow, dull, achy pain?

The latter is petofemmoral tendons and/or the fatty pad below the patella/kneecap that is stressed. I dealt with this myself, and sitting with a bent knee was painful asF for weeks. Ice it for now.

What do you do for leg exercises? Leg extension machines and quad work are usually the culprits here. I stopped leg extensions altogether. Also, if you squat wide stance or if your weight rolls towards the ball of your foot this will cause it too. Bring your feet closer together, heels about shoulderwidth apart and focus on REALLY pushing your knees outward while in motion.

That's assuming it's the petofemmoral tendons. It could be some other things like the ACL. Let me know what you're doing for exercises and what type of pain, will be able to narrow it down.

Also, keep off the leg exercises for at least a few days and take some ibuprofen throughout the day to help with swelling.

Dont weigh in every day Kase. Pick a day of the week and weigh in at the same time every week. helps with those daily fluctuations from water. I choose to weigh in every friday morning before i go to work. Been doing P90x for the cardio and intermittent fasting for the "diet". Went from 267 earlier this year down to 230 before i left to go offshore in early August. (37lbs down in 2 months or so). I had wrist surgery in may so i havent been doing any weight training until i went offshore. Now that im out here with nothing to do after i get off shift, i am doing the P90x weight workouts in the gym and a rowing machine for 30 mins every other day. I should be back next week and will weight in then. I guestimate that should be under 220. The diet is easy to follow out here since there are only 2 options for meals every day and you cant drink. My goal is 200 by the end of the year. The last 15-20 is going to be tough.

That’s pretty impressive man, great job. People should know that losing 37 lbs. in two months is not anywhere close to realistic for most people though, lol. Below 20% bf is where it starts to get pretty difficult, unless the person has great genes or is under 30 lol.

Im neither. I have gained and lost weight like that for the last 10 years. I get so fat and miserable that i force myself to lose weight and go balls to the wall. I lose it fast, but gain it back faster. Cant be good for me, but hopefully i keep it off, or at least most of it. 200 just has been a goal of mine every time i go through this and i always get 10-20lbs off. I usually take a week off because im getting burned out on the workouts and diets and that week off turns into 2 years. The cycle then repeats itself. Im 33.

How many days a week are you working out? Are you doing any weights, or just cardio? What is your diet?

For the first two months of all this, ive just been doing the P90x cardio videos 5 days a week along with the intermittent fasting diet. I do the extreme version of it and only eat 1 meal a day and fast the rest (23 hrs). The weekends i cheat a little, but try to stay the course. My meal is during lunch and i eat whatever i want usually but have made some concessions. Ive cut out most bread, sweet tea (never was a soda drinker), and beer during the week. Ive been letting my wrist heal during those 2 months so no weights. Since ive been offshore these past 5 weeks, i started weight training 3 days a week and cardio the other 3 days, alternating each. I am still doing the IF diet but am eating lunch and dinner and fasting 18 hrs. Not a lot of options out here but still havent eaten any bread, french fries, and am only drinking water. When i get back next week, ill continue with only 5 days a week working out (3 cardio, 2 weights) and try to focus more on the diet during my eating window. IF really works. People have been doing it for years on years and no adverse health risks.

IF works for sure. Bottomline it causes people to eat less calories week to week averages, which is all weight loss takes.

Exercise if you like it, but you don't have to go crazy. Controlling the nutrition consistently is the key, and time spent doing that will pay off. Progress will slow, but that is natural. If you plateau, it's time to cut calories assuming that you're not near the limit of 8-12% bodyfat. At that point, adding calories back in can actually help oddly enough.

You'll never outrun your stomach. Changing nutrition is key, and is incredibly hard to maintain a decent diet offshore. I worked on some nice drillships back when the going was good for a few years. Really challenging since they all cook a bunch of fat and salts into absolutely everything.

Do you best, focus on the nutrition, eat as lean as you can. Exercise at a comfortable pace/amount, cause the last thing you wanna do in this industry is injure yourself, plus you'll lose a lot of your fitness progress if you get injured as well.

Not from Texas but I'm working on getting into shape. Nutrition is definitely key, you can lift, do cardio, p90x etc. But without a proper diet, you can't achieve true results.

The scale is fucking teasing me.

3 weeks ago I weighed in at 206.8

Today- 201. It varies 202-203 depending on the day but fuck.

    I’m happy.

I’ll start doing ab workouts every day if I can get to 185-190. That’s my goal weight.
