There's also a Texas Gun Trader Bill of Sale you could use too. That's what I always use when selling a gun. I print two so each party has a copy. If it ever came back that one was use in a crime I'm free and clear

Price is fine but times are tough and guns move slow on here unless it's a new toy in high demand

You may want to investigate using a BOS if you sell many guns and I suggest research at a gun friendly page not an anti-gun page.

And that is all I am going to say about that.

Not sure what to make of that but K

Never had an issue selling firearms with a BOS and never heard issues of other people doing it too.

BOS isn't required, but it helps to keep a paper trail in case the popo come knocking. You could always tell them to pound sand, though lol
I would say it's pretty good, although periodically CDNN has them for less than $300, but that doesn't include tax, shipping and FFL fees

A BOS is no help as a paper trail in court its worth as much as the TP its written on. Now if you show a bill of sale and have a stack of them you are likely to be charged as a gun dealer don't believe me its happened several times.

As far as a BOS ever helping in a criminal case there has never been shown where it has.

The only time you will get into a jamb with a gun you sold is if you also happen to have ties or been in the area where the crime happened with the gun.

As with any gun related problem say as little as you can to cops they are not your friends and you can only hurt yourself with anything you say.

The correct answer is I sold it I did not keep any records.

Oh so you have first hand experience of this happening then huh? You sold a firearm to someone and it was used in a crime and the police showed up to your house and you were dragged through court? You have first hand experience of selling firearms and keeping a stack of BOS and the ATF showed up and said you were a dealer? Seems like you talk a lot of silly shit and we don't need that in this thread. Keep the parnoia on your side of the keyboard

That's not true. Although the BATF has used BOS to charge people running unlicensed FFLs, there hasn't been any convictions, that I'm aware of, where they weren't blatantly circumventing transfer laws.

So if no LTC, you will require someone to pay FFL transfer fees?

Picked up the 43X today, pretty sweet. Conceals a ton easier than my VP9SK. Getting trijicon NS installed Saturday then it’s carry life for the little guy. Perfect timing too, S15 mags came in! Woot! 15 rounds in a super slim package... I’ll take it!

Given this specific firearm, I will consider a direct private sale with a BOS backed by a copy of the buyers DL. While a .22LR is capable in the right hands I don't consider this configuration as likely to be used in a crime. Also, my FFL only charges $15 which doesn't seem too significant once you decide to spend $300 but again, not needed in this case.

I am curious though ...why wouldn't you get a LTC if you have a significant interest in firearms? I can understand it if someone is a casual owner of a couple of hunting guns and a bedside pistol but those folks don't usually hang out in the gun sticky. For enthusiasts, having one just makes things easier.

I have one, but that is besides the point. Although I 100% respect your right to sell whatever you want for whatever terms you want, I think requiring that info for a gun sale is both unnecessary and ridiculous. Someone looking to get in the gun game, will see this and think this is the only way to buy from a private party. So you are worried about selling a gun to a crazy person, but you expect me to give you a copy of my Drivers License???? THAT is crazy! Like I said, It's yours, and you have every right to do with it whatever you want, I'm just trying to understand this thinking. I know there is a similar discussion just a few posts above.......I guess I'll never understand this

I do like the takedown btw!

    I appreciate the reply.

To me - and just my take here - possession of a LTC is evidence that you have passed a background check and I view it as an alternative to a visit to the FFL. One of the legislative conditions for sale is that you do not have cause to believe the buyer is prohibited. Asking for an LTC is due diligence to show you addressed that issue without doubt. The DL is only requested in lieu of the LTC. If you are going to have a BOS you pretty much need some form of ID verification or it could be easily argued that you did no due diligence to prevent a prohibited buyer.

In the end its personal preference.
