Only thing more aggressive than these in terms of looks are Maxxis, and those aren't street legal haha

Yeah haha. Only thing is I hate these stupid stock wheels. Then if I get new tires just for looks I'd want new wheels. Then if I want new wheels, 265/75/16 isnt the goal tire size i want after I lift it and I'd want to go 285s. The struggle haha

Do you have 16s out of the factory? If I were you, i'd get some cheap used 265s (like you're tryin' to do right now), see if you like a tire that aggressive. If you do, upsize when you wear 'em down. If not, now you know, and you didn't bust the bank learning your lesson the hard way.

Mostly true:anonymous:i love my 285's, but I don't 'need' them right now

And tbh, I'll likely re-gear to 4.88 before I put 285's back on my truck again

Being a trail guide at HF I need bigger tires at this point... done all the trails (besides loose rock) with 265s but it gets sketchy and don't want to further risk a daily driver. Plus, I drive like a grandma so wouldn't mind 'em on stock gearing. They looked good at stock height but now its time to upgrade haha

Yep, 16s factory. I get parts and tires (new) at cost so I'm not too terribly worried about wasting money in that sense. I'm also used to tires lasting like 12k miles so these truck tires are just mocking me at this point and making me mad lol. It's almost a waste to replace brand new tires for used ones but hoping aggressive tread will make the whole ugly stock wheel/tire package look a little better

I didn't mind the 285's(gearing wise) when I was using the truck as a grocery getter and driving around the property, just when I took long highway trips. Many shifting. much rpm's. 'cause 3rd gen

Maybe I can ask this here. Trying to soften up the ride a bit. Do I need to change both front and rear to even things out ?

Where are you driving that the ride is not soft enough? The stock shocks are soft for normal street driving, it's when you start hitting bumpier roads or even off road that they don't dampen the bump enough and an off road shock would feel softer. It's usually the rear that suffers the most because there is not a lot of weight back there when you're unloaded. One thing you can do is check that the tire pressures aren't too high. Front pressures should be at factory specified as the drivetrain puts the weight up there. The rear factory specified pressure is for a medium between loaded and unloaded. Try dropping the rear pressure down a pound ot two and your ride should improve, this is if you are carrying close to no weight back there though. When you do haul a load, you will need to air the rear back up some as well.
