    KPT, why did you cut your magnaflow? any regrets on that?

    I'm considering it, but i don't want my black beauty to get any louder. it was fun for awhile but with intake, headers and magnaflow it can be a little annoying.

    That is a long, complicated story, but since you asked......

    I've always liked the dumped exhaust look. I think it's a lot cleaner-looking. I had actually cut my stock tailpipe before I got the magnaflow.

    When I got the magnaflow cat back, I had a real bad drone at around 1500 RPM's. So bad that I was considering selling the setup and going back to stock. As a last ditch resort, I said well why not cut cut the tailpipe, since I was going to do it anyway, and it couldn't make things sound any worse than they already do.

    So I chopped it off and low and behold the drone was completely gone. Only thing I can think of is that reducing the overall weight of the cat-back changed the resonance frequency just enough to stop the drone.

    So in my case, the exhaust actually got much quieter after I cut the tailpipe. I know it doesn't make sense, but it happened so it must be true :D.
