i have a 2016 with JBL. With my old phone (iPhone 6) I would be notified of text messages with the option to have them read out. With my my new iPhone X, there’s no text message notification on the head unit or ability to see or hear the message. Any idea ... is this Entune or my phone? I don’t have Do Not Disturb while driving set etc.

Seemingly unrelated, and not even Tacoma-related, but the new phone doesn’t send calls via FaceTime to my iPad when I’m on WiFi. I’ve turned off FaceTime, rebooted, turned FaceTime on etc but there’s no notification of incoming calls to my iPad. This was a really handy feature when I’m using my iPad at home and get a call, and my phone wasn’t nearby. Any iOS gurus here who have any ideas?

Not sure about the iPad, but to get texts in the truck, go to your Bluetooth settings on the phone. Click the info button next to Toyota Tacoma, then enable Show Notifications. I had to do it when I upgraded to my iPhone XS.

For the first issue try: go to bluetooth on your phone, under the my devices section look to the right side of the Tacoma and press the blue circle with the i in it - there you should click on the option to Show Notifications. Your messages should then work properly with the head unit.

For the second issue try: see if selecting Handoff unde the General tab in settings. That may fix that problem.

Thanks for the tip on enabling notifications in BT settings. Duh! As for the second non-Taco issue ... Handoff is enabled and works with other apps. It’s the “FaceTime” (though I really only use it for audio calls) receiving capability that’s missing. I can make FaceTime calls from the iPad. Anyway, thanks @irayfz6 and @payrow for the messaging tip.

Update, if anyone cares: even though Do Not Disturb was off on my iPad, I switched it to “Allow Calls from Everyone”. Now it works. My impression was this setting is only applicable when DND is on or active, but it seems to work for now.

I have the notifications enabled and my iPhone X still won't talk to Entune and display messages. Took it to the Dealer and they couldn't figure it out either.
