TFKGarage (Beers and Gears)

Well, as some of you know already I build differentials. I'm a 20 year Master Diagnostic technician with Toyota and have moonlighted at a couple off road shops in my day. I started building differentials out of necessity for my rock crawlers and progressed into the madness you see today.

So what is beers and gears? A business? Well, I'm not a business. I build differentials when I have free time between family time and house projects. I prefer to just build differentials but do full installs also. I have a full time job at a local dealer so that plays into my timeline also.

What services do I offer?

I build core differentials I have on hand to replace your differentials.

I can install those differentials if you require a "drive in/drive out" type service. I typically only like to have the vehicles down 1 full day.

I could possibly be talked into lifts and stuff.

I'm not looking to perform the same work I do, day in/day out.

I will not install other peoples built differentials for you.

I do not ship or have any interest in Shipping differentials. I don't want to get into that madness. Face to face transactions with payment after work complete only.

Scheduling, well being side work, I don't really schedule. I work on a 1st come, 1st served basis. That will be determined by parts received. I'm not holding spots in line or holding cores in hopes of whatever. Honestly, it takes me long enough to get through these when I have time, it isn't fair to someone who has parts in hand to wait for someone who doesn't.

Finally, this is "side work" for me. Life can get in the way (as the start of 2019 have proven big time). Expect some time to get these done, just know I don't like to rush through, I chase a quality setup. If this sounds like a path you like. Respond here and shoot me a PM.

I've only driven through Texas in a Dodge truck with the tow mirrors down.

Just trying to help out a bit if you posted your Toyota ASE master tech certs or patches.

 

Most of the locals have unfortunately met or talked to him on here numerous times in need of mechanical advice. Wait I meant fortunately...

110% all in for Brian on this. He did my 4.88's and I can speak to his work and professionalism - the only way you will find this at a dealer or other shop is if Brian is there and the one doing the work. We are very fortunate that Brian if offering his expertise and service to us. Top notch person and top notch work!

I have to throw my thumbs up for Brian in here as well. He did my 5.29s and was a fantastic dude to work with. My Nitro install kit was missing a shim and a seal and he was able to source them for me to not create any additional downtime during the process. I got them all installed and will be cruising down the trail with a smile on my face in about 110 more miles! You wont find a nicer guy to work with and the guy just flat out knows his shit.

Sub i am thinking of doing my gears this winter for next year. Just trying to decide on 4.56 or 4.88 and if i am staying 33” tires or going for dirty fives.

If you have any inclination of going bigger, do the lower gear. Just my 5 cents.

 

Brian did my 4.88’s fr/rr and air lockers! Quality work. In and out same day!

 

Brian and I were just having this discussion over the weekend. I've convinced myself I will never go over 33's...but I also know how this shit works so I will most likely go 4.88's

 

A lot of times people lie to themselves to say what they think they want to hear.

 

This is true!

so for second gen just go 4.88 for auto.

 

You'll never regret deeper gears on the trail even if you don't go bigger.
