    Yeah.
    So, 3rd gen = Instagram, 4th gen = TikTok

Had to look up what that slang meant. Please just use English.

I don't need to watch videos to see what happened. To me something in the transfer case broke under power. I've seen that also on the trail.

I don't drive in snow often, but in my limited experience fresh snow has more traction than previously traveled snow. Point 1. The Colorado had an easier route (went first). Point 2. All tires perform poorly/more poorly on compacted snow/ice. Point 3. Axle/diff/whatever still shouldn't have broken.

They also commented that they had driven that truck pretty hard in Moab and other places before getting it in the snow.

Just a lot of variables come into play. I'm sure they'll post the breakage issue.

This channel (TFL) and driving a truck hard is the definition of an oxymoron.

I have a Tacoma. I like my Tacoma. I have no ill will towards Toyota. They better hope this is a one off.

Well yeah so have I, just never asking so little of the vehicle. That is the problem, not that there was a failure, but there was a failure while being asked so little of the vehicle.

Correct. It shouldn't have broken. That's why the cause is intriguing to find out.

That TFL video could very well be the most costly single thing to ever happen to Toyota.

Well, there's no chance that they're going to net positive from it.

Oh there will be some mods all right
It is truly mind-boggling to me that there are many of you in here who watched the video and can honest to God say you think it broke due to abuse/quickly gaining traction/driver error. Myself, and many other people across the country, buy a Tacoma specifically so it can handle conditions just like the video, day in and day out, and still be able to go to work the next morning. Hopefully it's a one off freak thing because they have done nothing in any of their videos that would be considered true genuine abuse to a Tacoma. They have simply been using it the way they are meant to be used and have been used for the past three generations.

One issue with one truck won't affect sales in the slightest or their reputation. IMHO.

Could be a one off incident. Could be something else. Opposing opinions are just those, opinions. It's not mind boggling and doesn't make them less valid.

Let's see what happens with other drivers over the next year before jumping to conclusions. In any case, a gorilla beating on your transfer case for 3k miles shouldn't have made that happen, let alone some tire slip/hopping.

Not likely. If they were 250,000 unit sales deep in the 4th gen and had a major recall, that would do a lot more damage.

    Hardly.
The average Joe will never see or hear of this event. Or base their decision on a single event. I bet less than 1% of population on earth either cares or is interested in Truck news or you tube videos like this.

Especially when nobody knows what the issue is. Could be an electrical glitch shutting down 4wd operation. I had an ABS issue with my ZR2 that prevented 4wd from engaging. Was a pinched wire from abs sensor.
