    Aloha from Hawaii,

I've been cruising the Tacoma World forums for years to work on my 05 Tacoma 2.7 Liter.
It's been great to learn from other people's experiences.

Finally hitting a headwall after replacing the crankshaft position sensor after getting the PO335 code since my truck still won't start.

Hoping to get guidance for checking the wiring, appropriate fuse, and plates for which I can't find any info anywhere.

    Good luck to you all,
    Food Forester

I'm assuming the engine cranks over but doesn't fire?

Correct. I have gone thru the troubleshooting steps and now need to check the crankshaft plate next.

By far the best way to check a crank and/or cam sensor signal is with an oscilloscope, there's not really any other way to properly check the signal itself. The circuit can be checked with a meter.

What led up to the truck not starting?

The truck was driving fine and then it just died while driving.

    Cranks but doesn't start.

Unfortunately, I don't have an oscilloscope.

Thanks for the file. I just found that earlier today.

I mean if wiring between the sensor and the PCM checks good and isn't shorted to ground there's not much else you can do besides check the signal with a scope.

That's to re-sync the PCM and immobilizer, US 2.7L trucks don't have an immobilizer.

You called it. The "reset" didn't make a difference.

It's not going to run without a crank sensor signal, are you sure you got a good sensor and it's seated properly?

I picked up the only sensor on the island and double checked it was seated right.

Tested the resistance on the sensor and it was fine.

I think I may try swapping the ECM with a friend's Tacoma that is the same make and model to see if it is the ECM and then if necessary check the teeth visibly.

Thanks for your input, makes a difference out in the middle of nowhere.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
How many miles on the truck and how old is the battery?

Have you ever replaced the valve cover and spark plug tube gaskets? When the truck is idling, is the tachometer needle steady or does it bounce around? Edit: pop out the number 4 coil (because it’s easiest to access) and see if the tip where it goes around the plug is oil coated (it should be dry)

Never replaced valve cover. Just replaced the coils a couple years ago, will check them.

It was running fine and then just died while driving. Got PO335 code when I checked it.

I’d try another battery for shits and giggles.
