Not me. My local Thai joint wields spicy like a sword. I can eat it. But it's ring of fire hot. And I don't mean that figuratively.

Haha. No. I met the family. Full blown Thai. Super nice.

Food was hotter than what I got in Thailand for sure.

I ordered (pad kra prao) thai basil chicken for the wife just to be safe. She really enjoyed it and opened up to try different Thai dishes.

I found a decent Thai place the other day...still not spicy but the food was good. I ordered it a #5 level spicy which was at the top of the scale and it was barely 1 on my scale...oh well...

I usually use this one, simple and always turns out good. The tamarind is a bitch to find but you can use light brown sugar and lime juice as a sub. Not as good but totally acceptable. I sub sauteed crispy firm tofu for the shrimp or chicken. No idea why I do that. Pad Thai is the only time I ever come anywhere near tofu.

Yeah, tofu definitely not essential. Any meat'll do. Or none. Whatever, all good.

I think an Asian market would have the tamarind paste. Ive seen some grocery stores carry the tamarind pods but I wasnt looking for the paste at the time.

Yeah, I live out in Bumfuck so I'm nowhere near any decent Asian stores. I usually have to improvise, but if you can get the tamarind, it's much better.

Yeah same here, I have to drive an hour one way to get to a decent Asian market. I looked today at a college town grocery and no luck.
