Some people just don’t realize the fucked up shit they say! If they only knew what it is like on the other side maybe they would think twice about saying something like that.

I've looked at the pics several times and cringe even more each time, especially the side one on the flatbed. That whole truck got rocked, look at the rear wheel and how the driver's front is pushed back. OP, wow..you're lucky to be alive.

Much wisdom. I lost a good friend this way about 10 yrs ago who had a heart attack and hit a truck of some large kind (bus I think) head on.

I'd hope that there's a good explanation for the other driver being in the wrong lane, of course.

I am not defending the comment about rotting, but I have to wonder if perhaps that person lost someone tragically or went through this same thing.

Let's all just move on and be glad OP is in good shape despite having this happen.

Dang, glad you are reasonably OK.

Texters/phone junkies should have their vehicles crushed if caught. I quit riding MC's due to them.

[and that is the first thing I'd bet everyone thought of]

I wasn't kidding, I consider them worse then drunk drivers and FAR more prevalent. Just think if DD's were surrounding your vehicle and driving next to you every minute of every day.

And I'm in complete agreement with you.

Especially incenses me at night when it's obvious these fools are doing it with the light shining on their face.

Thank you to everyone saying that you’re thankful the injuries aren’t worse. I’m still in a bit of shock, and like one member said, I’ve looked at the pictures I took that day over and over thinking OMG! I see other drivers truck thinking “ my truck did that damage with me in it” and visa versa. It’s the single most violent thing that’s ever happened to this 60 year old body and I’ve been a Carpenter for 37 years. I shared this experience and pics for everyone to take a step back and recommit to driving safe for ourselves and the other drivers everywhere. Distracted driving is a modern day epidemic. Two lane roads have scared me my whole life, and yes I’m fairly sure we both were traveling 55-60 mph. In my mind that’s driving straight into a wall at 100mph. I wanted Toyotas safety for peace of mind but had no intention of testing it out. Ttyl

    Wow. Glad your "OK".

I say it everyday, "people are driving way over their heads"! I can't go out to the store w/o seeing at least one accident (honestly) or some suv'er going 70mph in a 45mph zone weaving in an out. A "Stop Sign" is a suggestion, not a requirement! Uggghhhhh

Looks like both trucks worked as designed and both drivers survived. The front end of all vehicles are designed to crush that way but to keep the passenger compartment intact. Air bags help a lot too. I'm glad your injuries are not major and I certainly hope the young girl makes a full recovery.

lol, the biggest offender isn't even texting all the time, many times it's the OEM-installed device in the dash
    [IMG]

that's why i have a 3rd gen, so i could install an old, dumb, non-touch screen radio in my dash.

there was recently a study i read that stated that we've all got more distractions and busyness going on than ever before, and phone distractions, statistically at least, play only a small part in the overall distractions all people are subjected to during a normal day.

My 2010 didn't have a screen but I wouldn't want one anyway, I just installed a single DIN. I don't mess with it unless I'm stopped anyway.

I do agree re the screen thing. I had a Chevy Malibu rental several years ago that had a large screen with the radio, HVAC controls, I forget what else. I remember thinking how the hell are people supposed to drive with this shit.

I wouldn't say texting and driving is worse than Drunk Driving but the consequences of either can be deadly so the punishment for texting while driving should be just as severe as Drinking and Driving imo.
