I think it looks like a fun little econobox! Paddle shifters, touch sceen, I could think of several awful cars in that price and size range. Definitely not a boring car.

Edit: Did a quick build and for $23K you get a panoramic moonroof, navigation, backup camera, 18" wheels, paddle shifters...seems like a really fun commuter car. A little surprised there isn't a more powerful engine option but if the thing really is 2300 lbs, power to weight isn't terrible at 130 hp. If you're looking for a 40 MPG car, you could do a lot worse in my opinion. You could get into a Mazdaspeed3 for a couple grand more, but someone buying this Hyundai is looking for creature comforts in an efficient commuter, not performance or hauling capability.

When my first Tacoma got totaled, I drove a rental Hyundai while the insurance got straightened out. I don't remember which it was, just a small one...maybe on par with the corolla...I have to say it was a zippy little car, and was actually kinda fun to drive...even for a beat-up rental. Gotta hand it to Hyundai, they have come a long way.

Years ago (like maybe 2004??) I had someone nicely rear end and total my Honda Prelude. I got a rental Hyundai Sonata.

I was rather shocked at how well that thing rode and drove. And yes, it was probably trashed due to being a rental and it was still nice.

I am willing to bet in 10 years or so you'll see people talk about Hyundai's like they talk about Toyotas. Those things ride well, carry an impressive warranty, and are priced very nicely.

And lately I've seen about 5 different models of new breeds of them, and they all got my attention in some way or another.

My gf suggested we get one simply because it is so ugly. I refused.
