    I hear ya man, I am one of 5 and my parents drove a 1989 Mercury Cougar. We made it work back then. I can afford to give my 2 kids more legroom than I ever had, and certainly more than they had in the back of the Tacoma, which was one but not the only reason why I decided to make the change.

    Agreed.

    I don't see this as hating. It's an individual stating an opinion. One I happen to agree with.

    That being said, I actually relate with the OP; in that splurge if you got it and it interests you. Having more room is all the better and just more "reason" to get the bigger truck.

    I personally went from a gas sipping commuter which is far more appropriate than a Taco for my southern Cal lifestyle. The only thing ever in my bed is the matching spare tire too big to fit underneath.

    The truck is 100% toy and for fun for me to offroad etc.

    But I could always say it's because I own a home and a big yard and it's safer for my child.

    My little Scion was just as good for the same situation for many years.
