That Toyota App is Kinda Spooky

This. I have a 6MT also and feel the same way.

 

I just got my 21 trd OR 6mt… super disappointed with the Toyota app, I can check my tire pressure and fuel level. Why would they take away the ability to lock or unlock my doors, wtf.

 

I could not agree more. I understand not wanting to do remote start, but the absence of remote locking/ unlocking is exceedingly disappointing.

 

Glad I did not get sucked into signed up for the Toyota App.

 

Same here. Just wish the fuse for the DCM didn’t also handle the microphone. I declined all this big brother data collection but who knows what they’re still collecting on me.

Totally agree on the forum. The tracking my driving doesn't bother me since we have to consent for the information to go anywhere beyond the app. Everyone does what they feel comfortable with

 

I find it useful in case I forget to lock my doors, though it does get moderately annoying when I have stuff opened up to work on it or unload/load stuff. Won't tell if the tailgate is locked (only if closed), but with the powered tailgate lock it's always in sync with the passenger doors unless you manually unlock the tailgate with the key.
