Great thread with the only gen 3 disassembly pics I have been able to find, so greatly appreciated. I am looking at doing this to repair my antenna and roof soon before winter sets in here in Missouri. Keep us posted on your progress for the 3rd gen model. If it happens sometime soon I am in for sure.

You can put me down for one.

Assuming you'd help me install it and BS with me one day.

@Anderson does the 50 count threshold only apply to one version?
or can it be mix and match 2nd gen/3rd gen(when available)??

    One version at a time.

I am still waiting from the manufacturer for their “final sample” for approval. The communication from this company seems to come in fits and starts as I am probably a tiny order in the grand scheme of their operation.

the 3rd gen version will start design process as soon as I can get one to use as a test subject. I may have to buy one from a junkyard...

    Full Disclosure:

The manufacturing company with the ability to meet our standards, as well as not price is into oblivion, is not very good at communicating with us “little folks”. They have finally shipped me the final sample. We negotiated for almost a month on the shipping price, for the sample...

Again, I’m no manufacturing businessman. This is a tedious process with no previous knowledge. I’m learning as I go. But, I should have this final sample in hand soon. From there it’s a matter of a week or so for final product in my hands.

I beg for more patience for those that are truly interested.

And for those that care, I have other projects in the design process as well. A 3D scanner has been purchased...

    Final sample has arrived.

I will take photos and install tomorrow.

I sure hope this is it!

The new finish is smoother and the transitions are less defined. The lettering has been removed.

It is now truly what we intended in its design concept of being “bullet” shaped.

I know, I know, I am quoting myself.

Install is not happening today. The truck I chose to install it on would not be a good candidate photogenically due to its cohabitation of a factory Toyota roof rack and a Vagabond Drifter. The pics just wouldn’t translate well enough. I have a good candidate for photos coming down next week.

I’ll be out of town for a few days here till next week. When I get back, the install will happen along with the photos.

If it’s all as I expect, I’ll proceed with a group order.

I’ve found a 3rd gen antenna and am having it shipped here so I can scan it and make a bullet cover for that model as well. I’ll need a local 3rd gen owner to be a test subject for fitment. I’d prefer if they had no roof rack or overhead shell (like a drifter) so photos could be taken for clarities sake.

tldr: we have moved the ball closer to the goal.

If we can work timing out, I should be heading over to VO sometime soon (I'm anxiously hitting refresh on gmail since it should be ready this week, I think). I'd gladly buy the prototype off of you if we can make it happen on my way to picking up the drifter. Let me know.

Thank you for the volunteer. An under developed wookie has already been assigned the task of being the test subject for this final sample. Maybe I’ll have more covers in my hands by the time your Drifter is ready? Install party!

not a problem and no worries. I'll definitely be willing to purchase any prototypes you have ready to go. Anxiously waiting the call from @Overlanerd and @Iggy haha.
