Decked and Shelled bed. Rhino ditch roof rack. Full set of Kings and Dakar heavies with Hammer Hangers. Flipped ubolts and super bumps all around. OGE dual batteries and a ton of other electrical mods. ARB Elements Fridge with DFG slide. OV tuned, AFE Exhaust, TRD airbox, URD short shifter, clutch accumulator deleted. 2 low switch and manual hub swap on the way.

I'm definitely in for a 3rd gen one.

3rd Gen antenna is a considerably more intricate design. This will take me some time to get correct.

it appears to have an “extension” built into its own housing. The extension nestled into the upper tail of the fin.

Does the 3rd gen have a higher data demand than the 2nd gen; thus requiring a stronger antenna signal? Or is the 2nd gen tech inferior to the 3rd. The chipset appears to be identical. Is this antenna extension actually necessary? I need a 3rd gen to test with.

My 2015 has HD radio. I don’t have this extension on mine. I’m very, very curious. It’s a shame none of my locals are 3rd gen guys.

Doesn't the 3rd Gen have the coil extension in there for the AM/FM reception?

Oh? They don’t have a fender mounted am/fm antenna? You learn something new everyday...

Does anyone know of some type of plug I can use just to fill the hole.... I don't listen to my radio or use the navigation. I'm just looking for the space for the last bar on my prinsu rack

Your factory antenna performs that job quite nicely. What I’ll be offering soon is the solution your looking for.

Unfortunately your not in any kind of close proximity for me to make that a reality. But I do kindly appreciate the offer.

I wonder what would be needed to eliminate the fender antenna and have it on the roof as the 3rd gen?

    Working on that...

It may be something very simple, or the exact opposite. I’m in the “discovery” phase.
