Ehh, not knocking the OEM stuff by any means, im just reporting my findings from crawling TW... for the most part these trucks are solid.. but everything wears out eventually.

On another note, im convinced my trucks likes 93 Octane better than anything else, im getting WAY better mileage on 93, im looking at about 350 per tank compared to just over 200 on 87

I'll have to try 93 when I get my Ultragauage in. See what the MPG difference is.

Its the ethanol. My truck hates it too. Thats why i run 89.

If we had the internals of the earlier 4thgen 4runners (like we should, fuck you toyota!) we could run anything, even e85 and it would get good mileage.

not sure, all that is available around me is 87, 89 and 93 with ethanol... i can get 93 without ethanol, but its from a race shop and runs about $6 a gallon, and i can only buy it in batches of 100 gallons at a time.... so far havent taken them up on that, no place to store that gas

87 is the recommended minimum. 91 is what makes the v6 produce a few more HP (not noticeable without a dyno)

You don't want to do that anyway. No way to keep it stable long enough. And transporting it/storing it is not worth it.

    Thats what i figured

Willing to bet its the Dual VVT-i compared to the single VVT-i in our 1-GR... so provided you can get an engine with an ECU you should be all set

That 4Runner was rated at 254hp stock compared to the tacoma at 236hp so something was definitely different

I think his truck is just afraid of ethanol like mine. I recommend anyone spend a few extra cents and just run 89. You don't want to jump to 93 and get the motor hooked on it. Then it will get lazy and hesitate any time you go back to 89 or 87.
If you stay in the middle at 89, you can run any of the three through it. :D

When I worked at a performance shop we would reset the comp just by taking out the battery for 30 min and then use higher octane fuel. Especially for the race cars that were also DDs

Hey Boogyman, i saw earlier you were talking about getting a new bumper, what are the plans for the one you have now? i like the original style that eddy came up with, its different than all the other ones on the market, and a lot cheaper too.

kep in mind though the MPG will be garbage and it will take a good bit for the comp to relearn the maps

i think so, ive also heard it helps if you reset when the temperature and humidity arent outrageous either.
