:smash::censored: stupid heat shield on my cat has been rattling lately, even after i tightened the steel zip ties i had on it. took a hammer, a chisel, high speed metal bits and a drill to get it off the truck, and then a dremel to get the damn shitty rusted bolts off of the bracket that holds the thing to the cat. to make things worse, i snapped a tab on the bottom part of the shield so now i have no bottom cat shield  and i need new bolts to put the top part back on

Wow, way overthinking that. Mine did the same and I grabbed it and bent it til the old hardware snapped from rust then just ripped it off. Sitting in my garage to maybe be put back on. I only had a driverside one though, is there one on each side from factory?

I would, but there have been issues with the cats burning the floorboard at low speed and High RPM loads because there isn't enough airflow to cool the cat. I tried to pull it off, the remaining bolt was keeping it from coming off. I have three cats, two immediately after the headers end in the y pipe, and one right after the y pipe to intermediary pipe connection. my plan is to leave the bottom one off and just put the top back on, it should be fine that way

We don't have headers, we have manifolds.

My cat shields only rattle at startup/ fast idle.

Just ordered an IONIC trifold tonneau cover. We shall fucking see if its worth $330 or if i should just go with a name brand. Now i need to find a pop&lock

    • In automotive engineering, an exhaust manifold collects the exhaust gases from multiple cylinders into one pipe. The word manifold comes from the Old English word manigfeald and refers to the folding together of multiple inputs and outputs. ...
    Exhaust manifolds

Exhaust manifolds are generally simple cast iron or stainless steel units which collect engine exhaust from multiple cylinders and deliver it to the exhaust pipe.

Look pretty much the same to me..

No, Ar is right, we have manifolds, they are the boring flat type that just go on the sides of the engine...bleh..they suck. Headers are much better, I want some

FWIW the "manifold" on the 2TR looks like a header

I got some SS hardware last night and put the top shield back on. still has a slight rattle between 16-1700 RPM. i think its the rear of the shield, since there's nothing securing it back there and the rattle goes away if i press on the rear part of it.

I might go and get one more SS Zap strap and go with that to hold the back down.
