I'm rebuilding my 81 and need a bed terribly and now a cab. Got a c6 trans, built 460, going on some 37s. The hardest part is finding the damn stepside bed. So rare around here

Cause that's what the truck had and I want it to be exactly how it was when my dad had it together, but higher...and I love stepside trucks. The pre 90s ones at least

Why not piece one together? Or are the floor and a sides no good?

Floor pans, rear cab corners are no good, and all rusted out around the back glass. My dad wants to get a new cab even though I already sanded through the multiple layers of thick 20 year old paint, and primed it. My bed is basically nonexistent.

Stepsides are cool. I like the steps on the side. It makes loading the bed easier. I have been kicking the idea around about replacing my taco bed with a dually chevrolet silverado bed from 2000 and putting little storage cubbies in the wheel arches over the wheels. This is one of the ideas that could succeed and look epic or fail hard. Also want put stack exhaust on my taco and give it a lift and replace the wheels tires and axles of my taco to the dually wheels tires and axles. Pic of the chevy dually not my taco. Also if anyone can find the length of the dually bed (in inches) I would be much obliged. my taco's bed length is 76 inches from where the bed starts to the edge of the tailgate

Image found on google only the bed matters to me

If I was not clear sorry. Here is the info I want. Can I put a dually bed from a Chevy 3500 (year 2000) on my tacoma. Are the beds similar length. My taco has a 76 inch bed. Is the chevy bed close to 76 inches.

Anything else is just me telling what I want to put on my taco later.

    Better?

You'd have to do a lot of fab work man. The bed is way wider than your truck haha. You'd have the cut some of the middle out and weld it back thogether. The body lines are never gonna match up. The backside of the bed will be halfway up to the rear window making it look like a little dump truck.

In other words the idea is stupid.

Ok, got it, so I will get a 1200 wide super swamper. What's gas mileage again?
