    Power? Hand?
My old job we worked with hand tools (Socket sets, ratchets) and air tools (Air impacts).
And I've worked with many, many power tools over the years.

I only carry basic tools in my truck (metric wrenches in the center console).
My setup at home is this box http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-...p-00931783000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

But I also have a full size tool box with random tools in it (Shit ton of sockets, random wrenches in standard and metric, air impact (which is an older version of this), metric ratcheting wrench set, and allen wrenches)

All my tools are craftsman, snap-on or kobalt.

I just have an old craftsman top box that has a full set of metric and standard wrenches, a used socket set, a pliers set, a crescent wrench set, a metric and standard alan wrenches, rubber mallets, a few claw hammers and pry bars, a small set of screw drivers, some special wrenches and sockets that grab any bolts or nuts, a few tape measures, levels, a full set of visegrip pliers.....

I also have a full tool bag and tote in my truck with much of the same

Snap-on, Matco, and most of the other big names have budget brands that offer the same warranty but Lower prices because they are made for that company by another company.
If you are going to be involved in weekend jobs regularly or use your tools often those are your best bet (IMO).

Snap on ratchets are very nice, much nicer than my craftsman ratchets.
If you have craftsman rarchets you can smoothen them up a little by pulling the retainer clip, removing the face of the ratchet, cleaning the interior, and greasing it with wheel bearing grease, much smoother and quiter than before, but still not quite as smooth as snap on.
