Because tow rig. And the engine bays are the same between tacomas, and the DCLB frame would allow room for a flatbed plus toolboxes on top. You would need to move the cab mounts, but the design that Toyota used makes that easy. Should result in a Daily driveable truck that is much better suited to rally support duties , and can still move a couch if required.

If I had to buy another taco, I'd probably end up with a v6 6spd ACLB. But, its all a pipe dream unless somwthing hapens to my current tacoma

Turbo diesel maybe, or an ecoboost or equivalent.

Not a fan of the tundra for towing, fuel economy sucks, tow ratings suck vs the f-150, and they're friggin massive.

yeah. 4 cylinder turbo diesel would be amazing. 24+ MPG while unloaded, and a solid 10+ while towing

that^ and the older gen tundras actually have a lower tow rating than my tacoma.

Idk if you’ve ever seen an eco-boost f150 tow anything of substantial weight, but mpg is non existent. The N/A V8 in a tundra will far outlast the twin turbo v6 too.

The ecoboost is way more badass than the 5.7 (I'm hoping the tundra gets a new engine soon)

And unloaded my buddies gets better mpg than my tiny tacoma

I can attest to that. Though the new grill for 18 sucks ass, looks disgusting on the F-150, fine on superduty but not F-150, that's why I stick with getting the 17 and not waiting till 18s were out.

I like them, but would never pay extra to have one on a Tacoma
