They don't need as much as everyone says they do.
202k miles on original plugs. I have not done much to my truck except a steering rack and wheel bearing from an accident.

How does your service manager like the suggestion of “just change the oil every 10k miles and all the other preventative maintenance isn’t needed”?

I would hope so! He spends close to 1/5 a year in that damn truck. Assuming the average person works 220 days a year, he drives 8 hours a day, which is the equivalent of 73 days a year. Mind blowing numbers!

Changing the oil at 10K is actually conservative. Changing at 3-5K is just wasting money. That is all impressive but I never caught what type of transmission. Manual or auto? I'd not be surprised at an auto going 500K+ with no fluid changes, but 1 million+ with no fluid changes is impressive. I can see a manual doing that, but the clutch would not last that long.

He's going 10,000 miles between oil changes. But it sounds like he does all highway. Or close to it. That's the best mileage you can do. Not that many short trips with lots of warm ups in between. Oil never gets a chance to get contaminated with moisture, or other contaminants. Brakes don't get used much probably. Steady highway miles are the best for a vehicle. Still extremely impressed that he has over 1,200,000 miles on his 2008 Tacoma. I just hope l get a 1/4 or a 1/3 of what he has today. l wonder how many he'll get?
I look forward to the updates on his story.

Have not changed any fluids except for engine oil and powersteering.

Why flush power steering but not tranny? It’s the same fluid (for auto trans anyway)

I replaced the steering rack last year due to damaged bushing and seal from an accident .
