i love my 3rz... i use to wish i had a 3.4.. but the 3rz has been an awsome engine with NO problems.. mine has some piston slap.. but if i let it warm up for about 30seconds before i drive it i never hear it. GREAT engine... even with the auto behind it

That happened to a local guy in his 2wd S-10 last week. The paper had some good pictures of the truck getting towed out of the lake. I'm too scared to try to pull my either of my dad's boats out of the water with my 2wd.

yes,i have to let it warm up or it is really bad...it actually rattles during warm up...i think most if not all maufacturers have shortened the piston skirts to get less friction and better mileage, but creating a problem where there wasn't one before...the difference is the other manufacturers are standing behind theirs...Toyota is not..

I have had an 01 2.7L for about a year now and have had zero problems with it. I just wish it had more power, it seems like everything can accelerate quicker. A have a 4x4 and it seems like there just isn't enough power there for the four wheel drive.

That would be sweet if they would. I would have the option to supercharge it if I wanted more power but like everyone else I'm shooting for gas mileage! I 've checked the yoda website when it comes to "Build Your Own" and haven't seen an option for the 4 cyl in the DC...hopefully your right about the 2011 models....

i think you would be better off to get the V6 if your getting a D-cab. you will make about the MPG give or take a mile or two, and you will have towing power and passing power.. where as with the 4cyl you get low mpg for a 4banger and have low towing cap.

Hey I"m cheap and just about anything that would help with mpg would be a strong selling point to me...but good idea on the test drives....

i have a 1995 2.7 5 speed 4x4 and it is the absolute slowest truck i have driven. It even has 235 tires on it. And now its starting to hesitate and lag. Anyone have any suggestions? I do love my tacoma but i would much rather have a v6 tacoma or a v8 something else.

I have a V6 auto and I just had my throttle body cleaned up and you would not believe the difference it made....Of course at 170,000 miles a little improvement seems like a lot....I have a CAI as well. If you haven't tried that suggest you give it a shot. I don't think it would cost you more than 300 dollars if you got it....

my truck only has 117 on it but my dad suggested cleaning the throttle body, the only thing is that it says not to clean it on the throtlle body. would it still be ok to clean it?

All I can tell you is they took the throttle body off of my engine (I think that's right...smart guys chime in here) drop it in a vat of solvent and it's run like a rocket ship ever since.....ask a toyota tech for their advice....or ask your mechanic if he's smart enough to know what I'm talking about....

Don't buy a DC Tacoma or any Tacoma if you are looking for high MPG and don't really need a truck.
