Still not a truck, no want, have fun! It is impractical for what trucks are meant to do as far as hauling crap and stuff too tall to fit inside anything. I like it better than any Nissan SUV tho..........

I have a shell on my truck so it was already limited in what it could carry. I do haul a ton of shit, but very rarely one single large object (like a bed, couch, etc). Easier to just have a small cheapo trailer for those 3 days a year, haul the rest of the time using roof rack or seats folded down. Neither the short bed nor standard bed are very apt to hauling things that real long bed trucks do, without tail gate down or bed extender... don't feel like I'll be missing too much. Not to mention how difficult it is to get around with a ton of weight in the back with the 4cyl. Ah well, I'll get another truck later when I can justify two vehicles and want something to bang up.

    Trail edition or bust

Hagen, felt the same way. Need for something bigger snuck up on me...lack of power and gas mileage...ehhh

Oh yeah, one last thing - MGM or white I think you asked? I learned that all superwhite and regular black Toyotas have no clear coat  I have single stage paint on my 2012 tacoma. I didn't even know that was a thing anymore. I think I'll stick to the metallics, guaranteed clear coat - and definitely like MGM most out of all current 4runny colors. Never had a black car but swirl marks keep me away. Bunch of '13s on dealership lot with plenty of swirlies from trying to keep them clean + sell them over however many weeks

Those new Trail Team 4Runners are awesome in my opinion. I hope to actually have one in the future when I have kids of my own, but with that said, I'm going to be hanging on to my Reg Cab for as long as I can. Yes, it would be nice to have some more power, but in my situation I don't need it. If I lived at a higher elevation like you I'm sure the lack of power would drive me insane.

But yeah, I agree with Hagen that some people are probably just jealous of the Trail Team, and you need to do best what suits your needs. Definitely make a build thread when you get one!

Hah thanks guys, I wish I could take the truck to sea level but I don't see a coastal road trip in any vehicle over the next 5 years. Would love to see how it performs at more reasonable elevation. When I drove it to AZ back in May I think it was, I foolishly expected a huge improvement. Was unaware of a lot of NM interstate being at like ~7k feet hah. Maybe I wouldn't mind so much if I were auto and just let the truck do its own thing. The build thread will be over the top though, that's for sure.

One thing's for sure: if you're gonna drive a 4 cyl tacoma in the mountains, you've just gotta be willing to downshift until you're flirting with redline.

this is 884x's, 1/4 inch top plate and dakar leafs. basically this will sit the same height as 885x's up front but you will have the extra 1/4 inch of down travel, which is nice in the ride dept. i have a 90lb'ish bumper up there for a bit of extra weight.

had them fabbed up locally, i can take a few better pics if interested. they are a hybrid box and tube design, matches well with the hybrid front bumper.

My Pops has my old '03 and I gave him my TT wheels. He had them mounted today. Thought I would share:

Thanks Brandon. It was my 2003 TRD. I love everything about that truck. My Pops enjoys it now, so that is really cool with me.
