Ugh, cleaning up chevy springs is messy business!

Rust grinds off fairly easily with a wire wheel, gonna go at it with a flap disc later this week. Figure I can take my time refurbishing these bad boys because I can't put them in until I'm riding the motorcycle as primary transportation.

What made you decide to go with chevy springs? Price?

I saw a thread a long time ago on them and believed people were doing it for towing right?

Chevy 63" springs flex pretty well for the price. Plus side is you can put more weight in the back of your truck without it squatting as much.

Yes, mostly price. I got them for $60 which is hard to beat, granted there us other cost that will be associated with them (bushings, center pins, hangers, etc.) but it should still be much less than say a deaver leaf pack.

The chevy 63" springs flex like crazy because they're so long, supposed to ride excellent on the street, and can handle a lot of weight as they're from a half ton truck.

    Check out Pdugans flex!

Sweet :). My springs are softening up real nice like with the extra weight I have been adding. I might take on this project in the future. You should load the bed a lot and find out how much they hold.

Yup, I just want the travel. Added payload is a bonus I suppose, but I'm mostly interested in the flex for the money ;)

Eh, I don't think so. I see how it would give a bunch of extra droop but I feel like it may behave oddly when transitioning from compressed to drooped out. :notsure:

I guess you could always use some tie rods and all thread for the control arms, incase you needed to adjust it a little.;)

Thanks. Sometimes I wish it still looked like that. Then again, if it wasn't for the roll, I would have never got the "ok" to make it my real toy :D

got a few questions for you guys. I want fox coilovers thats what im set on. I was browsing over dsm website and they sell the 2.0 coilover. I was wondering what springs I should/could pair up with that shock?

im looking at 2-2.5" of lift, my offroading isnt hardcore just from fishing spot to fishing spot on rocky bumpy terrain. I DO NOT want to go the 5100 route

1.5" Wheel spacers all around, 2.0 fox coil over with foxes in the back to match it up, add a leaf. 285/70/r16 general grabbers. my magnaflow exhaust k&n intake just threw in some maxtrac spindles. Total chaos UPA. Bunch of other little things
I have the fox 2.0 coilovers on my single cab they max out at 3"
And the 2.0 coilovers come with the 3.0 eibach springs I'll sell my set up if interested haha im looking at the 2.5 RR myself. Love my set up I just want the RR I'm a little more into off roading but these are perfect if your looking for a clean setup with little beating on them
