    Depends on the situation Kase. Up here it's just stupid rocky trails. Baby boulders basically so 35's are just nice for clearance. I won't hit much of anything any more and won't have to zigzag constantly to avoid the diff.

    Just the norm skids, sliders, & 35's
    No I'm not, I'm not saying open/open is great but you can do a hell of more than you'd ever think. Keeping the suspension flat and not spinning a tire will take you pretty much any where.

    I don't think he is arguing that lockers aren't nice to have. Just that its not necessarily worth the $1000 for most people. I will get more worth out of 35's than I would being on 33's with a locker.

    Like I said though, I think people need to get out in their areas before locking. I can tackle most of the terrain here without a locker and a little momentum. I got one mainly for the winters here. Its going to be nice being able to lock the rear in the deeper snow but its not going to help me do a whole lot more other than get stuck in a crappier situation :).

    Kase, since you dont have a locker and you like to mess with stuff you should do a dual e brake setup with a handle controling each side.

    I still think its per situation. You do not need a locker for this stuff. I can tell you that a DCLB on 32's beat the living piss out of his truck. I had to be extremely careful and still smashed my pinch weld on the passenger side and constantly hit my diffs. The guys on 33's were smashing a lot but far less than the guys on 32's (aside from me). That was due to the short wheel base. On 32's I could maneuver around things and pick a line to avoid body damage. Had i been on 35's I would have been golden even without sliders.

    There were areas were a locker could have helped...but it was not needed and if I could go back and change one thing before that trip it would be my tire size. Well actually, sliders first and then 35's. I think 32's is plenty for most people but when you go out more than a few times a year it gets pretty damn old zig zagging to avoid rocks. Even when it rains we normally have decent traction on the ground but that would be when a locker may get used.

    Yeah, thats what I am saying. We don't have super technical trails. You do have to go stupid slow most the time or you will just break the truck by bouncing it over and over. I haven't wheeled in sand, never plan on it either, but I doubt 35's are better than a locker in that situation. I could be wrong though.

    Mark (idtrucks) came out and his words were "I like wheeling my truck but fuck wyoming. This place just beats the shit out of the truck. It's not even that challenging" :laugh:

    If you want something challenging though come out around october 1st and hit these trails with a light dusting of snow haha. If you can even get to the trail :p. I am hoping the wider tire allows me to do a bit better in the deeper snow.

    A locker and 35s would do awsome up here in Ak I've gone a lot of places on the stock dunlops and can only imagine how awsome it would be

    One tire with little or no weight on it will be the one that spins, pull the ebrake up for that side to get some tension on it but not lock it up, it should make the power go to the other side on an open diff. Might help on making some extremely tight corners to.

    You could get some lift spindles and put them on, it would look nice.

    Oh ya forgot about the traction control, does it work that good. My 5 lugger work truck get stuck in gravel driveways and turning on the lsd barely helps

    Where is that at? Looks like a nice little section.





    Basically what I was trying to say. More often then not people will go straight for lockers and larger tires before learning vehicle control and "left foot driving" as most offroad instructors call it.

    Crystal lake trail in wyoming. There is no real one path on that trail. Tons of fun obstacles that we bypassed because the night was coming on fast.


    Ahh, gotcha. Traction control seems to do just fine on dry roads for me. If it is wet and slippery it generally doesn't work much. I can feel it working in the snow though.

    I cant wait till I get some lockers. So I can follow some of the bigger boys around town :D. Mainly Ryan (manwithoutaplan), hes always asking me to go on trails with him but half the time I just cant make it, low clearance/openopen.

    Forgot to roll my windows up yesterday with the awesome 60 degree weather we had. It has been snowing most of today however :frusty:. I have ice buildup all over the driver side. My ass got a bit chilly and wet with a short drive to the grocery store.:facepalm:

    1.5" Wheel spacers all around, 2.0 fox coil over with foxes in the back to match it up, add a leaf. 285/70/r16 general grabbers. my magnaflow exhaust k&n intake just threw in some maxtrac spindles. Total chaos UPA. Bunch of other little things
    Yeah on his first gen pre runner he built he is rockin the 35's. I've read everything you guys wrote I think I'll keep the 33" on for another year or so then buy some new fiberglass fenders, sell the general grabbers get what I can for them then make the move to 35".
