    Finished last night at 2am... Truck is definitely ass high right now. Ended up a lot higher than I expected. Set it so at full droop the shackles are vertical but they are at a pretty steep angle at ride height.

    Driveshaft is making some bad noises, probably going to replace ujoints, maybe shim the axle, maybe have a custom one made, maybe move the shackle hangers to get a better angle soon.

    Right now I'm beat from the swap, ended up being more work than I thought originally. Rides very well aside from driveshaft issues.

    FWIW, I have roughly 5" of up travel and 7" of down travel as it sits.

    Edit for reference I'm 5'10" and the top of the bed is nearly as tall as my shoulders.

    I think with a plate bumper and swingout it should help the rear settle considerably too... :notsure:

    It's not a 'Yota, so...
    I like this thread, I am almost done with school, and the RC4x4 is what i want. Affordable, manual transmission (refuse automatic), 4x4, and it looks cool. How many run 4x4 LT? curious to see, as that is what i want to do, or i might pull the front axles.

    Lol.. Don't know how this happened but by moving up from 245s to 285s my gas mileage has gone up by about 3 mpg

    That's awesome haha. At least us 4 bangers have that going for us. And it quite possibly could be because of the break-in period .. But nonetheless I happy I got 20 mpg city and 24 highway on my first two fill ups with these. (I took a trip to the beach this weekend and got to test out the highway mpgs for once)

    seeing those mpg numbers must be nice lol..here in hawaii I get 18..I took a trip to north shore and I averaged 22mpg..once I got back and drove around it went back down to 19 lol...no complaining tho I got the truck cuz its a truck not for the mpg...although it was nice seeing I can get 22 on long drives without stop and go traffic a/c blasting haha

    Any one know the math for me to calculate the gas mileage now?

    4.88s and 315/75 r16. Just by doing the mileage divided by gallons I am all over the place since the new gears. The current tank is looking to be around 300 but I'll probably ruin it by hitting the hills.

    I have an ultra gauge, can I set that up for the new gears and tires?

    There are two ways you can help track your true miles traveled


    Since your speedometer is now off by a constant percentage, you could use a gps or speedometer phone app to find your true speed, which would allow you to figure out the % your speed is off by based on your speedometer. Then you could adjust your total miles traveled by that %. This is the quick and dirty way and would at least give you a good ballpark estimate. This is basically what a speedometer calibrator through ultra gauge (or whatever) would adjust to, but this method assumes that the odometer and speedometer are dependent of each other, which I think, based on other testimonies on this website, is not true.


    Alternatively, and potentially more accurate, next time you go on a semi-long trip, map out the route with a gps to get the total miles of the trip. Then follow that route with your truck and then figure out the % to adjust your miles by based on how far off your odometer is from the satellite route
