Hay I need help guys. I was changing my oil today and when I was all done running the engine oil start pouring out of the new kandn filter I just put on. I have changed the oil before and did everything the same. 6qts Mobil 1 0w20 and new kandn filter. I have no idea what's going on right now and need to figure this out. I hand tightend the filter and it wasnt crossthreaded.

I was under the impression the oil capacity with filter was 6.1 q. I've done a couple oil changes before this without issue using the 6q. As for the dip stick I have always had trouble reading it. Would over filling cause oil to drain out the filter? I'm at a serious loss of what to do.

    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
Reading stuff like this disappoints me sooo bad. I badly want to buy a newer 4cyl 4x4 RC, but this scares me. Will they really not hold 75 mph with 285s on them?? My '89 RC with 4.88s and 35" Cooper STTs will hold 75 mph easily on the interstate. Is the 22RE that much better than the 2.7??

Thanks. I'll redo all my work. Working on my own vehicles has proven to be frustrating.

That's what I was gonna say - part of the old gasket left behind on the mounting surface.

It wasn't so bad... From the amount of complaining I saw I thought it would be horrible. It was slower, sure but not terrible. In retrospect if I did it again I'd probably just go for 315s and regear when I had money for lockers.

You are right about the amount I usually do 6. As for the leak check and make sure the rubber gasket is on the filter if so check and see if there is another one stuck on the engine if so remove one and you will be fine. If the rubber gasket got pinched it could also cause a leak and you would have to buy a new filter.

My first Tacoma. 4 cylinder, 5 speed. It is very basic (only option being the rear slide window). It is used as a DD to and from work each day. Keeps the mileage off the fast cars...
