I've had my Tacoma for almost a year now and just went through this entire thread. Needless to say I'm excited, and love my truck even more. The last time I logged on was actually the day I bought my Truck. Haha

Top picture is when I first bought it. Second is how it looks now.

Got my recall notice today in the mail for the rear leaf pack. Thankfully it's before I lifted it so they can deal with all bolts and loosen them up for me first. :) Haha

It's new......mods starting soon. Removed step bars so far. lol
anyone get their recall notice long after flipping the bill yourself for new packs? I installed wheeler's packs almost 2 years ago when my one leaf snapped and I just now after owning the truck since new in 2010 got a recall notice! Was thinking of contacting Toyota and see if they would reimburse me for the ones I bought or something.....anyone try this?

I would have bought springs either way to lift it when I did the front but was wondering if I could squeeze something out of them

I had the same thing happen but i installed another "new to me" set of oem springs. toyota told me i would have to have documentation on a reciept from the mechanic who installed it and it would specifically have to call out on the service receipt why they were replaced and that it was due to a broken leaf. so i am basically SOL

I too was gonna play the reimbursement angle after buying 4 leaf packs for mine & the letter saying stuff about reimbursement. Replacing them was related to how much the original ones suck. Won't waste my time on any stupid clip so the dealership can bastardize my truck any more than they did at the factory when it was built. I will still push them for reimbursement but it will probably just be a waste of my time and me wasting theirs.

Yep, but changes will happen soon. The only reason my rear bumper has lasted is I installed a hitch and that takes a beating. Our ass ends hang so far out and low. For the front I am just careful and go at things with angle to get the tire up first.

But mostly what kase said :D. There isn't a lot out here that will get your bumpers. At least that is on trail. Id have to tear up the land to find some real fun and I am completely against that. I am 95% sure Ill be at moab this summer though.

Haha hells yeah. Ill take a breath taking view over a broken CV any day!

Is this the wiper thing people upgrade to?

If so is it an option to get from the factory? Or did the previous owner know a thing or two about Tacomas and do it?

There's a guy that sells them on here from time to time. The base models don't come with intermittent wipers, cruise control, power window, and power locks.

Yes it is, and you have to do it yourself. It is neither standard nor an option for the regular cab. I replaced my radio with an Entune Plus HD unit at the same time.

With the standard wiper, you have to manually turn on the wiper after using the wash. The intermittent unit automatically makes 2 wipes.

Your Toyota dealer may tell you this part is not compatible, because it is not listed as a regular cab part. That is incorrect.

Hmm Interesting, thanks. Guess the guy before me knew what he was doing. Cause I didn't put it in and sounds like the dealer wouldn't do it.

I just figured what I had was normal until I saw people that were switching them out. I didn't even think about it until today since it is rainy, and it had me thinking.

I guess the previous owner enjoyed Taco's more than just the average person driving one just to drive one. Wonder if he is on here somewhere?

In 2010 and earlier, it was possible to get a regular cab with more options including the SR5 option pack which included the intermittent wipers.
