Wow, 37s and not only IFS, but extended length IFS for long travel.

How do you plan to avoid breaking CV axles?

if they had offered the v6 in the reg cab, you would see SO many. Many of the more hardcore offroad enthusiasts on this forum would probably have them

one thing i've noticed about the 2tr is it is pretty damn tight from the factory. it's a completely different engine at 6,000 miles vs new. the throttle response and the seat of the pants power is noticeably better.

anyone considering buying a brand new 2.7 needs to test drive a used truck on the lot first to get a true sense what to expect in few thousand miles.

Yep. That's exactly where I am... wheeling my '88 that I've had for 22 years because it's a totally different truck than the big ass 4 door V6 Tacomas. Those new Tacos are nice, but not for what I'm interested in. The whole reason I'm lurking on here is 'cause I'm interested in a reg cab 2nd gen Taco to replace my crawler that's falling apart. Figure I'll start with some 33s and then in a few years do a SAS, 37s, etc.

Here's my current 4 cyl reg cab trash (from 1993 & 2013), but I might be posting here soon with a Tacoma...

Very nice. It'll look and function better when you put some 265/70R16 AT tires (same size as TRD off road, or FJ cruiser for that matter) on it instead of those 245/75R16 donuts.

Here is my 2014 so far. I don't want to mod it much until the 2yr warranty is up.

    Thanks, appreciate that

    Thanks

I've been researching what tires I want to get when these wear out. I like the 245/75 size for weight savings, mileage, and winter driving (since the truck is light). I don't go off road at all, country roads and ski resorts are the most severe driving it will see. These Dunlops are only 32lbs ea., I'm thinking of getting the Michelin LTX MS2's or AT2's. Don't want anything too aggressive due to wear and noise.

Older body style are neat to see, especially the clean ones that haven't deteriorated too bad

I got the Cooper Discoverer AT3's in a 265/70r16 112t load index. I love em'! They are quiet, have a rugged look, a 55k warranty and awesome traction in the snow so far. I only gave 149 a piece for them, so it was fairly inexpensive when compared to BFG's. Not sure how much the Grabbers are going for.

too heavy. 265s are more rolling resistance
