I am not knocking the design as that's not an area I am an expert in. What I do know is that I buy products that are built and tested. BAMF didn't get its reputation by lifting a truck with a hi-lift and calling it good. That shit has been dropped on countless rocks.

Just seems weird that people are apparently ready to pay for something that hasn't been field tested.

I am not knocking you or the designer. Hell, he could be on to something for all I know. I just want to see it dropped on a rock. Considering he is pretty anal about not drilling a hole in the frame then I seem to doubt he is going to do that .

I just wouldn't buy these and take them straight to Moab or the local boulder garden. The times I have hit my sliders have been moments that I either lose control or I underestimate a drop. Both of which result in the truck flopping hard onto the sliders.

I had avid bolt on sliders on my other reg cab. They were really sturdy & solid. Idk about strength, as I never really got too serious offroad with them. But they looked great and were pretty beefy-- I'd recommend for those who don't wanna weld to the frame.

Edit: I also considered the BAMF ones IIRC

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
So I've been wanting to upgrade my head unit and was curious what others went to. I have the basic stock radio/single cd player. Have the aux connect under the climate controls and thats it.
I'm looking for BT for pandora and hands free phone with an android phone. Also have iPod but don't use it much because its not loud enough with current system. I may upgrade the speakers in the future but not right away.
I haven't messed with car radios in probably 30 years so it's all pretty new to me. Plug and play will be a huge help.
Looking at this specific HU right now but curious about others success with other units. (Sony MEXN6000BH CD Car Stereo HD Receiver with Bluetooth, NFC and App Remote)
I have no brand loyaty but can't spend a crap load of money.

Any horror stories to be aware of ? Something you're very pleased with ?

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can send my way.

A Rostra BT harness is plugnplay with oem HU and gives you calls over speakers and streaming audio from fon. Just an option vs. whole new system..............

Possible option. $160 to $300 plus. Do you have this ?

Might be able to tomorrow or Saturday. I took a quick look and there appears to be an inch or so clearance between those lines.

Anyone have an opinion on whether or not a 275/70r18 BFG A/T's on a 9" wide wheel would be to big for an 08 4x4 with a 3" toytec?

I was looking at my grill the other night and now yours...do all these MGM Tacoma's have a crappy color match grill from the factory?

Your truck looks great though! I have the same except a '13.
