I know a 285 will fit on the stock rim I put one on today to test it and I couldn't slide my fingers smoothly on the inside of the tire in between the control arm and tire. felt like that wouldmt be good. So I went with the 265 and have plenty room

There was a very small space so the 285 did "fit" but I like to trail ride so the farther the tire is from my truck from anything mechanical I's good

See there's the problem. That means I'd have my racecar, the Tacoma, and a 4Runner lol... can't afford ANOTHER car payment but a slightly larger one would be doable. I'll have to think it over more. Not ready to get rid of my truck yet ;)

Yes trimmed off the drainage pocket off the fronts and a small sliver of plastic fender on back it would catch at full lock in reverse only lol no rubbing now

Can anyone tell me all I can do performance wise to my 2.7L taco? I'm replacing the stock air intake with and aftermarket one. But other than easy Bolt on gain what else can I do?

Keep the stock intake, put a LCE header on it, short throw shifter, small tires and enjoy a peppy drive.

I'm getting a long tube header. And maybe exhaust. I don't like the small tire street truck look it defeats the purpose of owning a 4x4

Thats about all you can do really. These engines are running about as good as they can from the factory.
