From what I've read up on the axle shims their purpose is to reduce or get rid of vibes I'm not experiencing any vibes at all just a roaring sound. But who am I to say anything against them I've never tried I just want something reliable

It's the rear drive shaft. Lift really screws with these reg cabs...anyway word on the street is a double cardan joint drive shaft is the fix, which requires the third member pinion pointing at the t-case output.[IMG]

2tr-fe guts! Figured I would drop this in here since not may will ever need/get to see the innards.

The two orange links in the chain line up with a mark on each sprocket. At the bottom of the engine is a yellow link that lines up with another mark. Cylinder 1 should be TDC. For those with the 2tr-fe, you can easily do this to check your timing. Use a cheap endoscope to check the yellow link at the bottom to avoid pulling the timing cover off. I haven't done that but seen videos of it being done on other vehicles and see no reason it wouldn't work for us.

The bolt on the black sprocket is the evil bastard holding me up. Should find something to make it work in a few and complete the job tomorrow.

Also, I will link the light I am using in the final write up for replacing valve seals. After fumbling with a different shop light I purchased it for round two . It hangs off the hood and makes things sooooo much easier.

Man, I normally get drunk in my own build thread but tonight I want to say GO REG CABS! There is a few of us. Even fewer that heavily mod our trucks. Gotta love that! I have learned a ton through TW and hope I can contribute a portion of what I have learned here. Seriously.

Yea but my warranty is beyond voided. This was my fault and was a known risk when i got the steering rack back in. The steering wheel was secured 'straight' before I pulled the old rack out but the rack mustve been so messed up from the accident that the wheel was 360 degrees off.

Yep, I love my Reg Cab too! Wouldn't trade it for any vehicle that I know of. I guess mine's not "heavily modded" though. :D Just slightly modded with 5100's, OME 884s, LR UCAs, 285s, color-matched grill, black taillights, LCE header, AFE filter, custom badges, Wet Okoles, Weathertechs, and soon to have 4.88s and lockers. Just simple stuff.

Sucks, I checked on getting mine fixed before the tsb happened it would cost a 200 at least for the part. I think Toyota calls it a clock spring or something.

You like them maxxis tires don't you, how many miles did you get outta the last set?

I usually get new tires once a year which is about 35k miles. When the tread gets around 20% is when I order new ones. I do love them simply because they are a really rigid tire, relatively light, and really quiet for a really aggressive tread.

How do you like the air locker? How easy is the install? And how well does it work?
