Why do our trucks speedometer register 120mph?

Yeah, the 120 is just to tease you. Mine marches right on up to 108 (on a closed course of course) then the govnuh says no more for you............

No animals getting in, no waking up in water from rain or incoming tide & remembering that first step out of the tent is 3ft high when getting up to pee in the middle of the night. That's all I can think of at the moment. Oh wait, 2 of those might not be drawbacks............

120mph speedometer is so that highway speeds are top and center so that you can know how fast you're going without having to look away from the road for very long. 60-75mph is top-center to top-center-right.

yeah, other than losing the storage space, it was a pretty excellent setup. i guess if you wanted to go drive into town real quick or something, you'd have to take your tent down and then set it back up...kind of a pain i guess.

i loved being off the ground. i know those roof top tents are super popular on this site, but this approach was more my speed.

    You don't use a PRD?

*(PRD = Personal Relief Device, a resealable disposable wide-mouth water bottle, that can be used indoors)

On mine, I just undo the straps, and move it assembled off the truck onto the ground. When done using the truck, just place it back into the truck bed, and strap it back down.

My truck tent is a cheaper one that doesn't have floor. It just has fiberglass poles and straps to the side of bed and tailgate. I would have to just drive with it looking like some weird igloo.

~3,500rpm-4,000rpm. Doing 70 with the new gears the truck runs 3k highway. It doesn't see low rpms much more lol
