I still don't understand why the 4.0 is not an option in a regular cab. If that became an option ever on a new year model, I'd be down at the dealer ordering one. Also the TRD package would be nice too.

    I love my 5-spd,

But one awesome thing about the Auto in the RC is you get the bucket seats and a center console,

I wish Toyota would have kept an optional bucket seat/center console for the 5-spd RCs.

If I did off road a lot more, I would have really went with the auto,

    I love my 5-spd otherwise....

I dont beat my truck, problem is if i baby my truck, 1st to second grinds if i dont rev it high and 3rd gears annoying too, cant shift into first without being almost completly stopped. if i ride the clutch even just a little bit it get a retarted amout of chatter and the whole truck shakes. i live in a city with alot of stop and go and i just feel like the 5 speeds taking a beating, i brought my truck to the dealer b/c the throwout bearing started making noise, there doing that under waranty and for 300$ i ordered a new asian clutch/ pressure plate/ pilot bearing for good measure. hoping it will feel a little smoother if not, im going to look a ttrading it in. ANYONE ELSE HERE FEEL THE SAME OR AM I JUST TOO PICKY? plus my trucks paid off and i really dont wanna have to trade it in.

i know ur truck is still new but hows ur trans feel to you? it cant be much diff than everone elses 5 speed, 1st to 2nd grind when cold? hard to get into 3rd sometimes? shifting to first suck at anything over 3mph? releasing the clutch slowly on a hill cause severe jerking/ sliping?

At first the t/o bearing wouldnt make noise, once it sat running for about 5 mins it came out of the closet lol, the mechanic new exactly what it was, i told him wile the trans was out for the t/o bearing if he could do the clutch too he said it wouldnt be a problem, so now im just waiting to hear back for an apointment.
it has redline mt90, before it had stock trans oil and it was worse redline helped a very slight amout. all that i mentioned dont happen all the time but pretty frequently, i have had plenty of stick cars from a 92 fox mustand with a t5 to a 93 trans am with 650hp, this tuck just has a shitty trans. i hear there really durable But Problem is really when it gets colder out.

    Not to mention,
before any of this i went to go take a look at a new 2012 the dealer said they would give me 13k for my truck and it only has 32k on it
kinda low if u ask me but i said i wanted my rims and my bed cover and all my accesories, i might try to sell it outright and by the auto if i still dont like it after they do the trans work. Other than that, i love my truck
(IF YOU HAVE THE 2.7 4 BANGER YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY BECAUSE ITS MADE IN JAPAN ALONG WITH THE 5 SPEED, THE 6CYL IS MADE IN ALABAMA! oil starvation motor!) I wouldnt trade the 2.7 for the 6 but i would get rid of the 5 speed for an auto!

I actually asked the service manager about it this past Thursday, one of my best friends drives a Lexus ES something and they do his regular services for him at the big Toyota place, I was picking him up and giving him a lift to work.

And I just asked if it was normal, It doesn't like to be babied AT ALL. If you drive it easy ad try and slip it into gear, it feels "notchy" is how I explained it to her, I mean I have 10 years as a service writer, I know it's not a problem but I know I will for sure be making an appt and getting a RO generated so it's documented. Now it's only second gear for me that seems this way, my 3rd engagement is just like the rest, and what's funny is 5th is the smoothest of them all. After she is good and warmed up it's better but yeah, you have to get the revs up and it's smoother...

She did say wait until it's cold and you can really feel it, Lol...

The sad thing is the truck I test drove behaved a little better then my trans, :(

Yea i guess its hit or miss, some dont have any issuse but most do, mine shifts perfect after a long ride on the freeway. Smooth when its hot, but notchy unless u rev it to atleast 3k i like to shift at 2-2.5k for most of my daily driving

Same here...when I rev it up it shifts much better. But I enjoy getting great MPG, so I tend to granny shift around 2k. Second gear takes about 2 to 3 full seconds to get a smooth shift.

    Dang, 2-3 seconds,

I'm going to drive today the way the owners manual suggests and see what I feel, it would be nice to take it to my dealer and see what a technician says, I would love to drive it easier to save gas but not if it's going to be notchy and such,
