Hi guys new here to tacomaworld, quick question, does anyone with a regular cab 2005-2015 have problems with the shift boot popping out on them and always have to put it back on, it happens after a couple of shifts ,driving me crazy.

I remember this happening on my buddy's 1st gen. I think you could head to a junk yard and pick another one up. Probably <$10. -OR- use superglue or some other strong adhesive.

The girl and I are talking about "family car." So we are considering swapping my truck for a new car, and selling her car for an old truck. If things happen in our favor I can grab a 1st gen from a rust free state, or a second gen 2wd... :argue::fingerscrossed::mudding:

This is on my 2014, just got the truck, id hate to add glue to it, there has to be a reason why its happening.

Oops, I saw the 2004 in your profile and made an assumption event though you specifically asked about 05-15 shift boots. Sorry.

It's an easy fix. There WAS a little plastic tab at the front edge of the boot on the plastic of the lower console. It's broken off now and that allows the boot to move forward which causes it fall free of the console. The design of the retaining system requires that you slip the front down away from that tab then slid the boot slightly forward to allow it to drop free. The little plastic tab is very fragile and easy to break.

I located where the broken one in my my truck came off, made a small angle out of some .032 aluminum sheet scrap and glued that in its place. That has worked perfectly and without being able to slip forward like that the boot stays where it's supposed to.

I see what you mean, I took it apart and saw plastic edge was white looking were it snapped off, I found one of the little tabs, me being ocd I can't find second little tab, lifted carpet, checked every corner around shifter, idk haha,if I had both I could try to jbweld them neatly back on, but thanks for the reply, now I know what is going on.

Thanks for chiming in... I snoozed and I loozed big time. I knew when I was first looking, and the option was available I should have just accidentally the purchase button.

Someone please set up one of those group buy threads. :D. 1 confirmed here and possible chance I could get another local individual non-forum member sold on it as well.
