    Mine are fine.
    Wife's '04 Rav4 has a brand new one.

But she pulls her's down multiple times daily to hold one of those windshield sunvisor things.

i'm getting real worried about my stock clutch now... some days its perfectly fine, other days it lets out clear at the top, real jerky take offs etc... 92.5K on the truck, but i've owned it since 39K. i have no idea how the previous owner drove it. its ESPECIALLY bad when its raining out.

thanks for the hlp. hes going to try giving it gas during the shift to get the syncronizers going a little faster. maybe that will help . thanks again and will throw results on here tomorrow.

Hot weather in SoCal, would rather have the added protection of the heavier oil.
The fuel savings between 20 and 30wt are minimal and only help Toyota to meet CAFE standards.

If I lived in a colder climate, I'd be using a lighter oil to get better protection when the engine is cold, but when the coldest I ever start my truck is 50 degrees, Mobil-1 5w30 protects just fine.

It's my understand the first number only applies for winter time (hence the W after it). The second number is the warm weather rating. So, for SoCal, you should be the same with either one.

I wish I had some great success story from this morning after taking my truck in for the grinding noise, but all I came out of there 30 minutes later with was one about how they lost my business. I was screwed from the minute I walked in, the service advisor immediately was pissed that they scheduled me on a Saturday, and was critical of my complaint and the lift tires etc.

He walked of to get a tech to ride with me, and I could tell right away that the tech was pretty much told that there wasn't an issue. The ride along was him hearing it but saying that the tire noise and wind noise were too loud and there wasn't anything unusual there. And I flat out asked him if it was worth my time to leave it there and he more or less said no.

The weather didn't help me much either though, there was a cold snap and it was 39* this morning so it didn't get really warmed up an loud.

Short story is they are essentially refusing to diagnose/fix the problem until I completely return my truck to stock, tires, suspension etc.

    W stands for weight

I agree with the tech I dont want to be chasing a noise when you have the added effect of tire noise and lift.

I run 5w-30 synthetic down here in Phoenix. Have ran this since I bought the truck back in 07.

Yeup just a slight pop on the pedal will line the syncros up better. It will be a little tight but should pop in. If my girl can do it he can do it.

I don't disagree necessarily with the fact that my setup would make it more difficult or may even be causing the complaint etc. I took issue with their behavior and lack of customer service. Even if I had to shell out cash it would have been nice to know what it is and to rectify the problem. They never even tried to give it an effort. The last two companies I've worked for were all about customer service, maybe that's why I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I do agree with you with the service advisor being an asshat. But you can give the credit to the tech for tellin you not to leave it on a saturday he saved you some money. That kind of a complaint is for a monday appointment. Give the tech a full day to chase your vibration/noise issue.

My 2012 RC calls for zero weight, even has a sticker reminding me of it. Now I don't know but I am sure the dealer put it there and it's in the owners manual.

And I live in the Western North Carolina Mountains,

2.7 requires 0w20 synthetic. The mobile one eco 0w20 is cheap at walmart, and it does make a difference.

unless you're towing and or racing in the desert i would use 0w-20. if so use 5w-20 or 5w-30 for extreme uses. Like really extreme.
