On the photo in which you can see the prop shaft, why would they put the slip joint at the bottom, in the sand stream that is kicked up by the front tires?

 

there are many ways of doing it ....

 

if it was me i would do the slip yoke more by the tail shaft end of the tranny

 

what leaf spring are u guys running

 

I am running stock Tacoma packs with 2 leafs added from a Chevy 3/4 ton per side

 

Recall leafs

 

Stock 3 leafs w/ headstrong progressive aal

 

Stock springs with 2” AAL (Wheeler’s).

New member, but been trolling this thread. Just got my first Taco about a week and a half ago! Love it so far!

 

I really like my SCS F5s, but it was a hard choice between those and the Five Stars. You're truck looks sweeeeet!

 

Hey guys quick question. I just order two sets of the early tacoma steel 16 hole spare wheels. They have a 1/2 wider stance. Anyway on one set am I putting my old 235 85 16 on so the truck can just sit on those for a year. On the other set of wheels I am gonna put tractor tires for my guided hog hunt trips. They have 31 and 33 inch tractor ties for the same price. I have 3.5 inch lift in the back, and ome up front with spacers, but the bumper and winch sag it back down about .5 inch. Can I fit the 33s? Or do I need to stick with 31?

It is actually a 9.5-16 high traction tire designed for farming wet locations, rice paddy, draining flooded fields, that kinda shit. Case width is 9.34 inches, od is 33.2 at 29 psi.

 

So I was reading my owners manual (shocking I know), but it stated that a 2wd base cab is only 0.26" higher than an X-Runner. I know i got an extra inch with the tire lift, but I don't remember my X-Runner being that high when it was stock.

 

Those measurements are probably taken off new truck frames on the assembly line. Then on one they but a single cab body...1200 lbs...and then a extended cab body on the other...1800 lbs. Then the springs settle after driving .25 to .5 of an inch....in other words, I would take what the manual says about ride height with a grain of salt.

 

These are my two single cab Tacos. Bought the 96 new traded it in on the 09 . Love these trucks but wish Toyota would have resolved the frame rust issue. My truck is in the shop for a new frame. Man ,I miss that thing . going to be months !!!
